Do 50% of the players create shots for themselves and their teamates? Wow ...that is amazing...too bad out of those 50% of NBA players we only have one that can do that......and that one is Aaron Brooks. DD
Y,eah all of them good young teams. Meanwhile back at the ranch, the Lakers and Celtics are carting home rings, through trades.
Through trades AND the draft. Both of them got their franchise players in the draft. Pierce and Kobe.....though admittadly Kobe was a draft day trade. DD
kg, jesus, nash, and gasol weren't spring chickens when they were traded for/signed by their current teams. it was only when these guys were acquired their franchises turned around. the suns probaly had the quickest rebuild out of any team with only one down year. if the rockets keep brooks they're hoping he'll develop as a late bloomer to compete against lebron, paul, wade, durant, griffin, etc... as their best player?
LOL Jesus? AB is the last person on this team that needs to be traded unless some team overvalues him and gives us more than what Brooks is worth. Unless that happens Brooks is going to be a Rocket for a while.
How can I better explain this.. The Lakers and Celtics already had franchise players. They traded to get them help -- they didn't trade FOR a franchise player, which is what you're hoping the Rockets can do. The Rockets situation and the Lakers/Celtics are not the same.. they were building around Paul Pierce and Kobe Bryant. We're building around Aaron Brooks right now.. there's a difference. My point is that we need the Kobe/Pierce type franchise player before we start trading our draft picks and assets for second-tier stars. You're not getting Carmelo Anthony for Aaron Brooks and change. You get him for Derrick Favors.. who also was the #3 pick. So trading players for high draft picks can result in you drafting your franchise player OR give you the right pieces to land him (i.e., Favors type). You're not going to get Carmelo Anthony type players for 2 years of #20s and 2nd round picks. The two teams you listed are veteran teams whose star players have been in the league for more than a decade. This is Durant's fourth year. Saying we shouldn't go the Durant route because Kobe is still winning rings is silly.
keeping Brooks = making him the best player? Rockets will have to go through multiple drafts to get a franchise player. Brooks will be future backup PG, but Lowry has been signed for that role. Brooks will not be stuck in Rockets situation. I think AB is a winner and he will win somewhere else.
I just don't think we have a Paul Pierce, Kobe Bryant or even a young Amar'e to pair up with one of those type of guys. I rather trade what we have for guys like Green, M. Gasol or even Iggy then pair them up with young studs like Rubio or Cousins. Lot to ask so won't expect a complete makeover this season but I am willing to wait a few seasons if young blood is in place. I don't want to go into complete rebuild with super young guys and draft picks however and suffer endless hell.
you did say 20ppg playmakers and im assuming pg's so the only ones that would fit that category would be deron williams chris paul steve nash
Without the trades, Pierce goes down as a very good player but not a franchise player. And if you are thinking that you are going to pick up a franchise player in the draft, that already happened. More than once for this franchise. We have been very fortunate ov that regard. Most teams in the NBA are sporting a"franchise" player that would only be a supporting cast member of a true championship team. Morey knows what he is doing.
When? Where is he? He would sure solve a lot of our problems. And I hope you aren't referring to the guy whose been hurt for the last four years..
Good lord, what has he shown to anyone to be worthy of such praise? The guy is just as likely to bust as he is to even become an NBA rotation player. And to be a superstar? Please......the only 2 players lately that look like that are Blake Griffin and John Wall. This is 100% the shiny object in the stream syndrome ! DD
I repeat, with proper mentoring(Battier, Miller, Yao, Chuck, Hakeem, Sikma) Cousins could become that franchise player that we all talk about.
Rubio is not a good point guard in Europe at all. He's one of the very worst point guards that is in the Euroleague. He is definitely not the answer at point guard at all.
I think he has a shot -- but he needs veterans around him like Scola and Yao who can teach him how to prepare for the season. Houston has shown an ability to develop big men, so CD working with Cousins on his hook does intrigue me. I'm also intrigued by a possible Cousins-Hill front line and the defense possibilities from it. However, if we're going to go the development route, I'm not sure if Adelman is the right coach for it. I'd love to have JVG developing rookies defensively, but I feel like his hard-nosed approach might clash with Cousins.
