Kings were denied a new stadium last month. US Casino market has been in the toilet past 2 years owners couldn't give them away. Also Maloofs allegedly lost hundreds of millions to Madoff's Ponzi scheme.
Yes, and AB is a part of that.....you go fast, and build around athletic players who can get up and down and score the ball. DD
I agree... A lot of people here are expecting flawless players. Brooks and Yao are our two players that create mismatches on the floor. While AB isn't a good defender, he competes hard and makes up for it on the offensive end. The only way I trade AB is to get another guy that, in time, creates a mismatch... Cousins.
I can't justify paying AB more than $6 million on a rebuilding team Hell, I can't even justify Scola and Lowry making that much. If AB stays then Scola or Lowry have to go. Cutting cost and moving players for picks.
yeah, sometimes it takes a trade to revive a team.Im not saying a major trade (although I personally feel one is needed) but a trade bring something new and refreshing to a bad situation. Many teams do this (Dallas is always trading and getting somebody) to help propel there team. It is really needed with this team at this time before it is too late......IT IS WRITTEN.
No need to blow it all down that far......teams that do that never win.....you have plenty of cap room....agree about Scola though...and probably Lowry too..... Scola is 30 and Lowry wants to start......so if you can get something valuable for them...sure. If....IF they go into total rebuild mode. Not until you see he can play in the league and be a factor, right now he is looking Kwame Brownish.... DD
How can a players offense make up for his lack of defense??? I am really not understanding that theory......? Trading baskets is what you are basically saying Brooks is doing. Defense is defense and cant be replaced or substituted. Why do you think players like Battier,Bowen (Spurs) and Afflalo make there money??A mismatch goes one way,not he is good at this but "_______" or whatever. You cant compete by just playing offense (i.e Martin)and expecting that part of your game to make up for you inability on defense....he is a good player but keep it real...IT IS WRITTEN.
...and synergistically work. See: Pistons, early decade. Now they are just decayed. Because one deal tore them asunder. Now, they cannot get a deal to work. Therein is my fear.
Agreed if AB was 30, but he is 25.....so you can build around him for the young guys, and as they mature and he gets better, trade him in the future if need be. Don't jettison all your good young players...let them play. DD
Per 36 minutes Cousins is averaging 16 and 10 already , guy can't shoot but that will improve, you just can't compare him to Brown so soon... Cousins is a knucklehead but his potential is VERY much on display. He needs coaching and someone to slap him around if he gets out of line, to bad Deke retired or he would be that guy.
Eddie Griffin was great in short bursts and he was a knucklehead too. Maturity is part of whether a guy can play in the league or not. Right now the jury is out in a big way on Cousins. DD
I think the whole Eddie Griffin debacle has made everyone gun shy and Cousins may end up going down that same path but if you can get him some direction now then it all changes for him.
I don't like the idea of paying AB big money when we're trying to rebuild. We should be trying to shed commitments, not take on big contracts. If you're going to rebuild, do it the right way. Don't try and take the San Antonio shortcut -- our only chance of doing it that way disappeared with the overachieving Rockets last year.
You have to pay some people in order to have contracts large enough to flip for better players. You can't just have a low cost team, then when a superstar comes available you can't get him without trading your entire team. You need to have some well paid players to make any noise in trade... DD
Normally peak years for guards, not old, but not young. I'd be wary of his next three years. If he loses his speed, there goes his trade value.
