i went to the woodlands show a couple years ago and the biggest suprise was how much the band seemed to actually enjoy being there. i expected them to be gloomy and aloof, but they were very playfull w/ the audience. they seemed to have a great time and that is what made them all that much better. if you are on the lawn dont rent the $5 lawn chair cause you wont use it. everyone stood up the whole time. i got really drunk on $7 beers and smashed mine along w/ 2 or 3 others after the show was over. my revenge for inflated ticket prices and confiscation of non-woodlands sanctioned inebriation devices.
That's exactly what I thought. I expected them to not even talk to us, but Thom was actually enjoying himself. He made a couple of funny remarks about people on the lawn smoking weed if I remember right. He also said something about the traffic on 45 and suggested that we just "4 wheel it" to the show next time. As far as the beer prices, just stop at that Texaco on 45 right before the exit and load up on the cheap stuff. This will also get you around the line on the exit ramp. Then just chug while you're in the mall parking lot and you'll only need to buy 2 or 3 of the expensive beers inside. Hope that helps.
I saw Radiohead at Verizon Theatre in 1998 and it was an awesome show. The band was just starting their American tour for OK Computer and were at the top of their game. Plus, the sound was absolutely perfect (which is a rarity - usually the kick drum is way too loud and the bass is non-existant). I belive they played every song from OK Computer except for Electioneering and most of the songs from The Bends. If anyone here remembers the set list from that show, I'd love to see it.
did verizon used to be called Aerial Theater at Bayou Place? if so, here is the setlist. i only have one thing to add: you think they were at the top of their game then? since then, they have released three more albums, you should hear these songs come to life on stage. OK Computer was just the beginning of something huge, they are at the top of their game right now.
