This. I don't quite understand what Portland could give us outside of a heap of unprotected picks... Like 2 firsts and 2 swaps? I might consider that, but not sure why... it kind of makes no sense to accumulate assets in hope of a top 3 pick when you already have a top 3 pick... we need to draft an all-star, and Paulo has that potential. Sure, you MIGHT get an all star at 7 in Griffin or Murray, but less likely than at 3 isn't it?
Rockets would consider trading it if Portland gives Lilliard and takes Wall off our hands. Would need to be sure that Murray or Sharpe is available. Humongous drop off after those two are gone.
That may or may not prove to be true, it’s too early to tell (who is the best pick at #1 in the draft).
Yeah, the Rockets have plenty of assets and draft picks. The goal shouldn't be to trade down and keep accumulating more middle to late future firsts. It should be to capitalize on the high firsts you're lucky enough to get and consolidate your other assets to keep getting higher firsts and better prospects. Because of the Westbrook deal, the Rockets' rebuild is on somewhat of a time crunch. You've got two offseasons and two seasons of basketball before OKC owns your picks, and you have no clue what you're getting from Brooklyn yet. They need to capitalize on this offseason and next, maximize the talent they get and strike when they get cap room next summer. Trading down from 3 makes zero sense unless they really, genuinely prefer Ivey to Banchero and decide it's worth it to move down a spot or two and pick up additional assets. But 3 to 7? There's just no way Portland could offer enough value back to justify moving down that many spots.
I do find it hard to take everything Givony is saying seriously. He's got us taking TyTy Washington at #17. Hasn't he read our thread?
Is it June 23rd yet? I'm tired of all this speculation. It's like being on a ferris wheel. Up and down and round and round. . . . .
It's felt the opposite to me... Feels like we're getting Banchero and if we aren't we're getting a prospect close to that level. It's been very stress free haha
Not to mention it would nice not to be pushed around so easily by getting another player close to 240 pounds.
Yeah, sounds Like he's probably good as gone. Ive been a Chet supporter until I started watching Banchero more closely, now I'm on the Banchero train. Still would be happy with Chet but looking at a 6'10 Banchero who probably has 40+ pounds on Chet and can move the ball at a high level and score the way he can makes me lean toward Banchero more now.
I definitely don't support the Ivey pick unless he's our second pick somehow. Just sounds like another Francis/Mobley or Harden/Westbrook experiment all over again. I definitely want a big first.
I’d be curious of a breakdown of where FOs would be on valuing Cade vs Mobley today. In that anonymous GM survey from January about what under 25 player you’d most want to build around Mobley was 6th and Cade was 13th. But Cade played fantastic after that came out and Mobley had a stretch after that where he struggled a bit.
