He looks solid alright, like he's actually build like a football player. He was just bumping everyone out of the way and drawing fouls, I'm kinda impressed at how naturally strong he is
Mathurin seems to play like he's already a seasoned vet. Haven't seen too much of him, but I'm impressed by what I've seen.
He will def increase the wins on the Pacers more than most rookies. It's going to be a weird year in the NBA.
Sharpe would like to have a word with you, why are you just talking about Ivey and Mathurin? Don't you know who is the no 1 of this class a year ago? P.S. I'm on Team Mathurin, Ivey reminds me a lot of Wall/D Rose so although he looks so good, he will prob also have a short peak career before he flames out and starts getting ravaged by injuries.
Green is not a smaller guard lol he is like 6'4-6'6 so def on the hugher end of height for SGs. Also he is a year younger than Green when he entered the NBA. If Green and Cade played together you can argue Green wouldnt struggle at all since Cade could set him up for open shots.
I think you misunderstood my point. My point is that Ivey would benefit playing with a guy like Cade. It has nothing to do with Green. I mentioned Green only as an example of a scoring guard struggling early on. So it will not be surprising for Ivey to struggle like that and therefore we should not write him off so quickly. Never said Green wouldn't struggle if he played with Cade.
I hope we don’t regret passing on Ivey as I’ve said it before and really predicted Mathurin to be good but not that good early in the season.
It was pretty obvious to me, which is why i started the thread. Sometimes these guys just dont get the "hype" they might otherwise.... not always clear why, not like Purdue was a powerhouse bball program or anything... but the Wildcats days of glory despite recent success are behind them and i just dont think a ton of media watches them. Even going 6th i think on draft night, draft pods, etc. it was mostly like "yeah, Mathurin he'll go 6-10 and be fine" type analysis, where they'd move on to talk about how exciting Dyson Daniels could be, or whether Sochan was a defensive wizard type thing. Kind of common though, where some of these "obvious" guys go later. Kawhi was a good example, heck Alpi was a good example. All in all, he still went pretty high though... i just love his athleticism, attitude combined with actual skill.
Bennedict was one of the guys I wanted if we landed a pick outside the top 3. I'm not saying I have awesome scouting skills. I just loved the idea of having a player named Bennedict on the team. Great name.
In this analytics age, so many just stop trusting their eyeballs. As I've gotten older I'm starting to just listen to my gut more and more. Don't ever let people convince you of things you're not feeling. I still think Paolo ends up as the best player from this draft, but Mathurin going off isn't surprising. To this degree is pretty crazy. Also no one seems to be talking about how the three most hyped rookies from last year have looked middling so far. Green is head and shoulders above the other 3 at the moment.
Been 3 games, but dude looks like the RotY so far. Better stats and metrics than Banchero, all while playing less minutes. Can Mathurin win RotY and 6MotY, assuming he comes off the bench throughout the season? Halliburton and Mathurin is a damn good duo.
