It's hard to mask both AB and Martin's defense

I don't want to trade Brooks or Martin, but I'd like to make Brooks a 6th man, and try to bring in some height at the PG position.

I would trade Brooks mainly bc of the raise he'll surely get in the off-season.

At this point, I'm all for bringing Lowry and Budinger into the starting lineup and AB and Battier off the bench.

You can't do that Sammy, other GMs are aware of the raise he is going to get too, they are not stupid.

As high as you've been on AB, then there surely has to be one team that wants to ante up on Brooks.

Maybe a team that doesn't have 6M a yr locked up on another PG on the roster.

Martin's defense has improved. He is moving his feet, trying to stay in front of his man, and even drawing charges (at least one from Melo).

I think one of the biggest reasons we lost is because we didn't execute well in last quarter or second half..like shane said, "everybody is forgetting Yao in the second half." We can see how efficient Yao is on the first quarter..it's like 3/4. but Yao only shot the ball ONCE on the 4th!?? something is wrong...

players hv to notice he can only play 24mins..when he is on the court, we should pass the ball to him as much as we can..!! not to mention that, when scola was on fire on the second half, why not pass the ball inside to the paint..!

what is our best defense strategy before? it's to make the opponent become a jump shot team..! and we are doing the exact same thing on the 4th quarter..
they need to know it's the last quarter and stop begging the shot will go in..just execute and run plays..from inside to out....!!

I don't care what Scola is averaging. His defense is still pretty bad. Just b/c he can twist and turn and throw up scoop shots doesn't mean he gets a pass from defending.

Scola NEVER guarding PFs who have a outside shot is a BIG reason why we lost to Al freaking Harrington.

actually Scola was trying to rotate over to Yao's man a lot because Yao had to come over and provide help when Billups kept killing Brooks on the pick and roll. Billups kept finding Harrington who had the hot hand.

If Brooks tries to at least work harder on those Yao wouldnt have to come over as much and Scola probably could pay more attention to his man instead of his and Yao's

Yes, lowry needs to start with martin so we have some defense in the back court at all times. Then brooks can play backup with lee against the other teams backup. Adelman is too stubborn to try that unfortunately.

I agree. why don't TRY that once or twice and see how it runs out..
brooks is an attacking weapon..he should be happy if he can just come out of the bench and attack the basket..

now, in the start line up, we don't need an offense pg..we need a pg who PASS the ball to our scoring machines: that's yao, scola or martin..

Its only been 3 games but I can see an improvement in Martins defense over last year.

AB is sucking on defense and I'm really tired of seeing him getting pissed out there and crying like a little girl, grow a pair.

That's simply not true. Brooks is terrible. Scola is average. His defense has improved since he came to the Rockets. The guy can't help not being a gazelle. At least he never takes a play off, on offense or defense.

he is playing help defense...when our pg let the opponent pg easily penetrated inside..if he followed the PF..their center will hv easy dunks..coz yao is helping..

of coz, scola would like to defend the basket and hope for misses outside..or hope for other teammates to help..

you can't say the opponent PG scores is ab or lowry's fault..coz there may be a pick or switch..YET, if the opponent pg can easily post ur PG, or easily drove by and penetrated inside..something is wrong with our PG...

The worst part about Brooks is that he gets worse on defense as the game goes along.

I mean, he actually looks somewhat decent on defense in the 1st quarter (from what I've seen)... but when the 3rd and 4th quarters come along, he gets horribly lazy and pretty much doesn't even try anymore.

I mean, he's the guy that was standing in the middle of nowhere while Steve Blake was sitting WIDE OPEN at the 3 point line during the entire 4th quarter against he Lakers.

And he was the guy that went under every screen in the second half to allow Steph Curry hit the easy open jumper over and over again.

I'm not saying bench the guy now... but if he keeps playing terrible defense and completely disregards the system on offense in the 4th quarter, at some point you'll have to make the change.
