Is Tayshaun Prince a good replacement for Battier?

I remember reading an article last year about players who hold their matchups to the lowest fg%

Tayshaun was at no. 1 and Shane was at no. 2, but they were only like .005% off. It was pretty interesting.

Guess that adds nothing to the topic haha.

Well, I'm a huge Battier supporter because this year his defense has been pretty good (holding Kobe and Melo to 40% shooting, frustrating Danny Granger into 19 shots and only 18 points, he's not getting slower because, frankly, he's never been fast. He's never had to rely on speed or quickness.) but his offense has been terrible (better as of late). The fact that he is a sort of leader in the locker room and he's a great role model to all the rookies (not to mention the fact that he should be helping Bud out so that starting spot will eventually go to him).

Yes, a straight up trade up trade Prince for Battier. Prince is better than Battier in practically every way. Plus, Battier said he wanted to finish his career in Detroit anyways.

I would like it, even more if Battier agrees to it.
The only downside would be disrespecting Shane, but if he wants to go there i would do it in a second.

So who's going to be the on-court and locker room leader if we replace Battier? Who's gonna be our "glue-guy"? Tayshaun Price will work if we only needed a glue-stick to keep this squad together.

You can take this two ways...like they tried to make it seem, that it was just a heat of the moment type of thing and Prince is too competitive to stay quiet (wince he said he's said things to his past coaches as well) or that it was more than that and there is trouble between them.

If it's the former, which is what i think, then they won't be looking to trade him over it. If it's the latter, then i'm not sure you want a player who can stir things up like that.

And there was a thread recently asking pretty much the same thing.

hes overrated because he blocked reggie miller's layup in 2004. he was a fantastic role player in the 2004 play-offs period. then joe dumars gave him the max, then went from a defensive minded coach to an all offense coach, and his career went downhill instantly.

Prince is a princeton style offensive defensive specialist gives the Rockets what they need - length. He can play along side Martin and be a good tandem. Monroe would be a good fit too another high-post passer, but can't see Detroit giving him up. And Villanueva would be a bad fit with Scola. Monroe would also give them more size/muscle inside. Not to mention he's injured anyways. I wanted Monroe in the draft.

I posted about this before. If we can't get an upgrade via an star, we need to upgrade the SF position without losing any significant. Battier + filler for prince.
