I thought the reason why rockets lost to the jazz was cuz Yao played worst not tmac o_O I didnt think tmac ran out of gas more like he did all he could.

ben wallace is what? 6'7 or 6'8. yao has no problems seeing the basket with big ben. so although he's pushed outside even if he is, ben wallace has no way of altering the shot of yao. plus, ben is NOT that strong. he's quick but not strong.

okur is a true 7' footer. plus, he is a big body.

but i think what attributes him to his struggles v. okur is he has to guard boozer on the other end. that tires him out. and when boozer scores on him, yao might overthink and that affects his offensive game. just a thought.

but yao only struggles vs a few teams. when we play those teams i think adelman will limit his minutes to 30 or so so he can use scola/hayes combo.

yea JVG acknowledge the problem. but like u said, what can he do? in 04-05, we had sura and james to do some playmaking so tmac was dominating in the 2nd half of the season going into the playoffs.

now he's having the same w/ mike james and a lil of rafer.

Well I dont know if numbers tell the whole story there. I just remeber boozer scoring all over him and okur blocking his fadeaways. Not sure about his turnovers. Its been a long time so I probably forgot a bit.

There were many reasons for the loss. I don't get your focus on who's to blame? Never in my post did I reference blame on the loss. I only referenced a scenario similar to this one from last year where people used a record to squash a debate.

Well my reason wasn't just the record if you read a couple of my post. It's only 3 games into the season and they are saying that it wont work. I think that's my issue. You don't think that adleman will change the system and put yao back in the low post more if it doesnt work?

He still spends 80% of his time in the low post. So I don't see why people are so concerned or fixated with the whole idea that Adelman is trying to transform Yao into a Brad Miller.

Adelman said he would. Yao has spent time in the low post the last three games, however there were times he did not get good positioning. My concern is different from theirs ... is Sikma working with Yao on getting deeper post positioning, and sealing his man like Thibodeau was or was he brought in to work with Yao around the free throw line? Judging by Yao's positioning in the low block during the preseason and last three games, I think Yao needs the coaching.

his positioning was great v. the blazers. it was bad v. utah, including the playoffs.

again, it's just physical basketball the jazz play.

So basically, because he's not able to instantly adapt to the offense, he's incapable of doing so? I see some potential with him up in the high post. He doesn't need to drive or whatever, he can hand the ball off while setting a screen then roll to the basket to receive it in the low post. The point is that him in the high post has given players like T-Mac more room to play, as opposed to them just waiting for a Yao kickout and being stagnant on offense. As good as Yao is down low, things get awful stagnant when he isn't hitting his shot.

Yao needs to get used to reading the defense as well as his teammates. It's only been 3 games, it's way too early to say that Yao sucks at the high post. T-Mac (as well as the entire team) coasted in the Portland game, hence all the jumpshots. But he had 12 and 14 freethrows in the first two games, respectively. That tells you that he's going to the hoop. I wouldn't put too much stock into the Portland game. It's hard to drive to the hoop when there's a 7'6 man in the middle bringing all the defenders into the paint, so I like it when they bring Yao out to the high post on occasion, say 25% of the time. I don't really care if he doesn't get 25 every night, as long as the Rockets are winning. That goes for McGrady as well.

Actually when Rocks win, Tmac usually say's he impose's "his" will; but when Rock's lose, it's because "we" didn't play our game, not because he should 33% from the field.

Yeah, that's kind of annoying. Also kind of annoying was that JVG piles on Yao all the time about turning the ball over too much, not playing good P&R defense, or whatever else, he never said a negative word about McGrady, ever. I'm fine with the criticism of Yao by JVG, because I'm sure he did turn the ball over too much or w/e, but hey McGrady didn't play a perfect game either.
