Well said!!! I couldn't have put it any better myself.
But be sure if Yao Ming was on the market every team would make an offer. :p

Lamar Odom straight up. With Steve, Cuttino, and Lamar running the break, it would be over.

If Cuttino retires from playing and grab the GM job from Morey(dont know how), that might happen.

    Trade Yao?

He's the rocket's franchise player... trading him would be like the lakers trading kobe or the heat trading dwyane or the mavericks trading nowitzki...

However, unlike the other forementioned players, Yao is a center, one of the most difficult to mold positions in the NBA.

Good shooting guards are a dime a dozen...athletic forwards are even more common... the only thing even remotely close to a good center is a good point gaurd..

    ERGO

    NEVER TRADE YAO

There is'nt a player in the league i would ever trade yao for. no kobe, no LBJ or wade. no McGrady. noone. he brings so much talent, sheer size and inside game that he is the most valueable commodity going around.

How about Yao for Pau Gasol + Hakem Warrick + 2007 overall #1 pick? Am I asking for too much here?

absolutely nobody. yao hasn't even reached his prime yet and he's the most dominant big man in the game.

Exactly BigM. there is'nt a player who comes close to being as dominante as yao. When yao goes off, he'll give you 40 points 18 boards and 6 blocks on any given night. there is'nt anyone out there that comes remotely close to that. yao is our cornerstone. mac is our supporting cornerstone. however, yao is the real franchise player.

    Probably a good, servicable center + an all-star forward/guard

But yeah, not gonna happen in real life
