    I vote 'no'.

One great receiver is not even close to addressing our problems, and the Texans would receive much more harm than good from the breakdown in chemistry he brings.

The question is really, "Now that the season is a complete failure, would you like to turn the franchise into a complete circus for the entertainment value?"

    I voted no.

Those brats on 610 needed to back off of that a little bit. They reminded me of 6th graders in health class giggling then the teacher said, "vagina".

I'd want the Texans to pick him up if we can get a clause in his contract where he has to wear a muzzle at all times.

First I voted no. Then I started reading the thread. This seems like a pretty good idea. Pick him up off waivers. He makes decent trade bait. Hell, we should at least be able to get a good draft pick if not someone to firm up the O line for a guy like TO, right?

And besides, if I remember correctly, the way his contract is structured, he's only supposed to make something like $700G's next year (then it balloons to over 6 mil a season ... or something like that). It's not like that creates all sorts of crazy risk. If we can't trade him, we can keep him for a year and then dump him.

I'm starting to warm up to the idea.

i would love it if owens came to the texans. it wouldnt ever happen b/c we are the worst team in the nfl, and he doesnt want anything to do with that. the guy was gettin pissed off and upset b/c his team was losing. he hates to lose... you cant knock on him for that. it was the same reason why he left san fran... its b/c his team sucked while he busted his ass. he played in the super bowl injured...and not only played, but played well. his attitude sure isnt great, but you gotta love how determined he is to win.

I'm tired of people whining that he played in the SB hurt, it is nothing that hasn't been done before. Hell Emmitt Smith played in a regular season game with a seperated shoulder, rushed for over 200 yards and he never hung it over everyone like TO has, the guy's selfish and is a cancer on any team he goes to. He may not be a bad guy in real life but he is death to any team he has ever played on. That is what Rosenpenis and TO fail to see. The worst person in the world can still be a good teammate and no matter how bad they are off the field teammates will defend them. TO makes it impossible for any one like him or defend him. Good guy or not he is a terrible teammate who at the first sign of trouble throws everyone around him under the bus.

If someone walked up to T.O. and asked him if he thought about playing for the Texans, he would laugh.

for arguments sake....he is waived, and we/another team claims him off waivers. They pick up his contract right? At that point, what rights does he have if he refuses to play for us, or whomever picks him up off waivers?

The only way he could pick and choose where he wants to go would be for him to clear waivers and at that point he becomes a free agent right?

    Yes.

But do you think that bringing TO to the Texans would put us on a 6 game winning streak?

I mean, yeah, our receivers aren't as good as TO, but we've got a lot more problems and a lot broader problems than just one receiver.

And if he constantly gave lip to McNabb and And Reid (breaking down a lot of team chemistry), how bad do you think it would be with Carr and Capers?

If this happens, RM and TO would be smart if they did a reality TV show for their one season together in Oakland. It would sell. Throw in a couple of lesbian cheerleaders and you might get a blockbuster hit.

McNair says Texans don't want Owens
Owner sees WR doing more harm than good

    By JOHN MCCLAIN
    Copyright 2005 Houston Chronicle

Texans owner Bob McNair would love to have a chance to acquire a lot of NFL players to help solve his problems, but Philadelphia receiver Terrell Owens is not one of them.

During a break in preparations for Sunday's game at unbeaten Indianapolis, McNair was asked if he would consider signing Owens once Philadelphia has washed its hands of him.

"He's almost dismantled the Eagles; why would you wish that on us?" McNair said with a laugh. "I've already got enough problems."

The Texans are 1-7 and in need of help at a lot of positions, but McNair wouldn't consider the controversial Owens, who has been suspended for four games by the Eagles and was placed on the reserve/suspended list Wednesday.

Owens is hoping an independent arbitrator will rule that he can play this season — if not for the Eagles then for another team.

"Some things can overcome talent, and he's figured out how to do that," McNair said. "Football's a team sport, and when a player thinks he's more important than the team, it's just not going to work."

Rather than add a receiver such as Owens to the roster, McNair wants his group of Andre Johnson, Jabar Gaffney, Corey Bradford, Jerome Mathis and Derick Armstrong to get healthy the second half of the season.

"We're going through tough times right now, but we're going to work through it," McNair said. "We've got players that are committed to helping us get through this. We don't need a disruptive influence like that."

    TEXANS SUMMARY

    Bad news for rookie

Just as the Texans had started reaping the benefits of the wholesale changes they made to the offensive line four weeks ago, more changes are imminent.

Rookie center Drew Hodgdon may need season-ending foot surgery. Hodgdon left Sunday's game early after spraining the arch in his foot. Hodgdon, who started the last three games at center, is getting a second opinion, but the Texans fear his season is over.

"He's getting a second opinion, but chances are we could lose Drew for the year," coach Dom Capers said.

Hodgdon's injury is similar to that of former Texans fullback Jarrod Baxter, who missed the 2003 season after undergoing surgery to repair a severe sprain in the middle of his foot.

    Weary might start

Without Drew Hodgdon this weekend against Indianapolis, Fred Weary may earn his first start of the season.

At this point, the Texans plan to start Chester Pitts at left tackle, Milford Brown at left guard, Steve McKinney at center and Todd Wade at right tackle. The Texans are practicing with Weary and Victor Riley at right guard this week.

Weary started one game last season for the Texans at right guard, but the former third-round pick of the Texans has been inactive for the first eight games of this season.

"This is my chance to get out there and maybe make a statement about myself," Weary said.

    Injury update

The Texans had six players sit out of practice Wednesday, but only three of them likely will not play Sunday. Center Drew Hodgdon (foot) will miss the game. Right guard Zach Wiegert (ankle) and cornerback Demarcus Faggins (hamstring) are doubtful.

Wide receiver Jerome Mathis sat out practice because of his hamstring. He was warming up to play Sunday when he pulled it again. He remains questionable for Sunday. Center Todd Washington (neck) also missed practice and is questionable. Defensive end Gary Walker (shoulder) did not practice but is expected to play.

Running back Domanick Davis (knee) did participate in a limited number of drills Wednesday and is listed as questionable.

WR Andre Johnson (calf), WR Corey Bradford (hand), TE Marcellus Rivers (knee), LB Antwan Peek (shoulder) and DE Robaire Smith (back) are listed as probable.

OUCH! Hey, TO! The worst team in football just said they don't want you!

What a fantastic quote. We not only don't want him, we laugh at the idea. I love it.
