Pay KPJ what you would pay your sixth man
    Jamal Crawford, Juan Barrea
Not a PG never will be
I would sign him to an extension on that salary, but If he doesn’t want it then play out your last year on the contract and see if someone makes a run for him next year. We do NOT need kpj to hinder any possible path to the rockets rebuild.

yeah, the Brunson comparison isn’t a good one…KPJr has subpar stats and is a headcase on the worst team in the league

Brunson was the 2nd best player on a WCF team…and even then, it was the Knicks who paid him all that money…they’re not exactly a beacon of good decision making

    It’s the Knicks
    Former agent is the GM
Hired Brunson’s dad to Thibodeau’s staff

I get that he got frustrated at the refs. But his immaturity showed and flashed before our eyes. Not getting back on d, refusing the check out. Trying to check himself back in. He's a ticking time bomb. It's hard to give him big dollars. It'd be like Kyrie Irving. All the talent in the world but he just kills teams and chemistry with his foolishness.

Of those 25, a lot of them never at any point in their career were as good as KPJ currently is.....also, the contracts are subject to inflation. A 20 million dollar a year contract signed in 2022 isn't the same as a 20 mil a year contract signed in 2015.

Also, your point about being a top 5 pick....well yeah, because talent is the most important thing. KPJ is currently the most talented player on a team with 2 top 3 picks.

Like I said, the Rockets can do whatever they want, but they either pay KPJ 15-18 mil a year this off-season, or he's looking at 20+ next offseason....and if the Rockets lose KPJ because they are too cheap to pay their top players, that'll say really bad things about the direction of the team. It would be reason for Green and Smith to start coming up with an exit strategy.

Easily. He's one of the better 2 way combo guards in the entire league at only 22. Giving him 20 mil a year just says you think he should be paid like a top 20 PG. Also, while we have some over the top pearl clutchers here, I doubt many others are THAT concerned about it. Talent is always the primary concern.

Totally agree. Just cuz some team and gm was dumb enough to do something doesn't mean we should. I mean somehow a team traded 5 first round picks for Rudy Gobert..... like wtf...

Nobody is giving kpj $20 mil plus. This board just throws out such nonsense for mediocre players over and over and over. Overvaluing is such a constant theme for a lot of you and wrong by a wide margin consistently. The use of Brunson as an example is also terrible

I don't understand why so many people are willing to dismiss KPJ's issues.

I mean, he is talented, but you look at Miles Bridges or Kyrie Irving, and KPJ is closer to those guys in terms of off-court/on-court issues than he is to them in terms of talent, and even still, very few teams want to deal with those guys at all.

If KPJ was to be extended soon, the contract needs to be a heavy discount, loaded with incentives and team options.

The problem is even if KPJ manages to play and behave well next season, there is always a concern that his maturity is merely temporary, since a lot of players behave and perform better during contract seasons.

I would say a 3 year contract with a team option in year 4 is the longest the team should commit to for now.

I’m done debating this stuff.. time will tell who’s right about KPJ. Gonna be a lot of crow to eat whichever way it goes. I believe in the kid, I do understand the concerns though

Agreed. I have to admit though, I do look forward to the absolute meltdown if the Rockets do the right thing and extend KPJ before the season.

Jalen Brunson without Luka: 20, 8, and 4 on 49% from the field and 35% from 3

Jalen Brunson in the 2022 playoffs: 22, 5, and 4 on 47/35/80 splits and in the 1st 3 games without Luka he averaged 32, 5, and 5

Brunson has produced in meaningful games which is why he got paid what he did along with the Knicks being desperate for a starting caliber PG

Reeko, Do you think Brunson puts up those "without Doncic" numbers in NY?

At 6'1" next to who? RJ Barrett and Julius Randle? I wish him luck

I can definitely see him averaging between 18 and 20 points and around 7 assists on decent efficiency…he’s pretty skilled

he should give the Knicks some level of stability at PG for the 1st time in ages
