They were never given the opportunity to do what they really wanted to do, so I don't judge the disaster that is season 2. The plan wasn't to throw in a couple extra characters, the plan was to start over. Think about why Maya's story was so crappy...it was because it seemed so out of the way, so pointless, and so disconnected from all of the other characters we were still seeing...
Do you mean Monica? Maya was there with Sylar, at least. The disconnect in New Orleans certainly did help things with me, I just loathed the Monica & Micah storyline. And a lot of that was because it felt like a broken record from season 1. Why do I want to keep watching new characters discover they have powers, get freaked, and start using them? I didn't hate Mya's plot, though it was aggravating to have them rinse, wash, repeat the "I am scared! I bring death with my black eyes! My brother calms me and I unkill everyone! Now we run away!" schtick EVERY.SINGLE.EPISODE. I personally enjoy the new characters this year - dispense with 3 episodes of setup, just toss them at me and let me learn about them as we go along. Daphne, Arthur, Blue Flame, etc. The only newbie that sucks (in my book) has been Fearboy...and that's just because he's lame period. Also, I feel I should add - how I see things is only that. It's just my wants, nothing I could argue as being subjectively "right." For me, believable characters and strong writing gives a program a chance to be stellar (The Shield, Rescue Me) and poor characters and weak writing limits a show to being at best entertaining fluff. These guys need to make up their mind about Sylar, bad or good, part of the Petrelli family or not...each week it's changing. Nathan's sudden change was also very weakly scripted.
Exactly. It seems like they turned the table in the last five minutes of this episode on what has been built up for the whole season...WTH.
My DVR cut it off too. Freaking Time Warner DVR is crap. I change it to record to 9:05, but it never saves it properly. Always goes back to 9:00 and I miss the end.
Spoiler They end up at the scene where Bennett gets Claire. She ends up seeing how the scene plays out and at the end, almost blurts out an expletive. Hiro covers her mouth and the episode ends. Not sure where they are going to go with this. Whether she decides HRG doesn't really want her (he says he doesn't want to take her and Kaito tells him it is not a request), or whether he changed over time and really does love her.
I agree that they basically cancelled a lot of what has been going on in the past couple of episodes. Not really liking that. Plus what a long eclipse. Spoiler Also how would both Petrelli parents know to manipulate Sylar? I'd rather that the story would have him as the third brother. I kind of liked not knowing what side he was on. He would've been awesome as a tweener.
I'm not sure what the episode was supposed to do, in all reality nothing happened. Anything they had been working on suddenly changed. Only thing i can think of is that they now know what supposedly happens during a eclipse so they can plan ahead for the next one and be ready to sit around for a few hours and do nothing.
It felt so anti-climatic Only this this show did was reaffirm that THE HAITIAN is the best Character in the show *grin* [primarily because he is off camera most of the time and they don't write him enough to mess it up] Rocket River
If the eclipse cancels out powers, then why didn't Arthur Petrelli become paralyzed again during the eclipse (or even die)? Spoiler Why did Sylar kill Elle when he already had her ability? This show suffers from severe Lazywritingitis.
His body was already healed. Thus he doesn't suffer the paralysis any longer. Why didn't Claire's arms break and her head turn around and her skin fall off. Same reason. The real question should be why did this eclipse cancel powers and the last one didn't cancel the powers of those that had already manifested? Truly this is a spoiler and if you do not want info on future stuff do not click it. it does have relevance to the above spoiler though. Spoiler Go back now do not say you were not warned Spoiler Apparently the word is that Elle is not dead. The hot speculation is that he is going to pretend she is dead to save her from Arthur's wrath when he returns without Claire. Not positive on the why but the non death is a pretty solid rumor.
The only problem with that is. . . . why did ADAM die without his powers? should he have been just powerless. . but with all the benefits of his powers? i.e. he should be in great health Rocket River . . . SPECULATION: I think HIRO is the catalyst. . . I mean .. Adam did not have power until HIRO came around [he'd be pretty stupid or lucky to have never had an injury until that moment]
That is the part that is the issue. I really don't buy the way they killed him off but I am sure the writers would just say "That is how his power worked". I also think that is part of the reasoning leading o the writer firings. Too many inconsistencies. You would think if the eclipse gives and takes away powers Adam should have been dead with the last one. And you would also think he would have come into contact with the Haitian at some point. The neutralizing effects would have killed him as well.
I've been watching both Heroes and Sarah Connor this season and I think Sarah Connor is better. They slowly progress the main plot and there's better character development.
I worked hard defending this show last week but this episode sucked ballsacks. Nathan was predictable, the Haitian was cool as usual, but wtf Sylar. I liked the brother aspect, but it's ridiculous to have them switching back and forth like this. Also, if he's NOT related, then why is his power exactly like Peter's? I don't mind character flip flopping too much but they just freaking flipped the switch on Sylar for no reason. Wasn't he not evil when he had powers? So just because he lost them for 30 minutes he's going back to evil? Was I the only one hoping Claire stayed dead? She did finally make me like her when she admitted to being a dumb teenager who knew nothing on her deathbed, but then starting acting yet again like a brat when healed.
