Re: Bud and Brooks. My expectations for them rose as their performance on the NBA court got better, same thing will happen with Morris. Bud has proven to be a decent starter so far, and Brooks was playing at a borderline all star level before getting an ankle injury. Nothing wrong with liking the play of Rocket players that are performing on the NBA floor..... Same for Scola, Lowry, Kmart, PPat, Chayes etc..etc..etc... DD
this is RICH coming from you but who here is exactly saying that either #14 pick is going to be elite? As far as I can tell most posters are reserved on their expectations of either player but just optimistic. In the case of Morris, Cxbby has never said this guy is going to amazing but gave him a ceiling of Paul Pierce lite. And with Patterson I dont think HayesFan has said anything that is clearly more than what could be realistically expected. It happens every season the rockets could be picking last and people will say that the team got the steal of the draft. Its just the way fans are. Some people tend to go way over the top, personally I havent seen anyone go way over the top about any of the rookies drafted last week. People have thrown out bets it looks like putting their opinions on the line but from the looks of it all of those are saying Morris getting more votes than this guy not necessarily Morris winning ROY. To say Morris gets more votes is a reasonable assumption maybe a bit homer but its not like he is saying he is going to win ROY and if that was said I would say yeah that seems a bit much listen if you are finally off of you "von wafer elite athlete" "aaron brooks top pg" etc etc mantra and are now setting optimistic, BUT realistic expectations on rockets players great..but youof all people should NOT be leading any sort of charge against others who maybe a bit over the top on expectations on any player be it rookie OR veteran. i mean you leading the charge is like an alcoholic with a 1 day AA coin telling others not to drink..sure i mean he is on the right path of beating his addiction but he still has a high likelihood of falling back down after one day. meaning once the next season starts sooner than later you'll be back trumpeting someone on the team labeling him the next elite all-nba all franchise alpha dog player soon enough...so i wouldnt go around telling people temper expectations now you've already flipped flopped on like countless other things, i know adding on one more thing isnt going to hurt but for your own sake its better not to. And I apologize to others this thread has been derailed...Respert deserves more than this... DD you really need to go back on your 'self-imposed' hiatus..whatever happened to that?
Back to the topic. A thought popped into my head. What if Alexander thinks that there will be a long lockout, perhaps even a lost season, so he's figuring that giving Respert a new contract would be "wasting" a year of salary? Steve Francis used to be our franchise player. Like Yoyo said, I said he could turn out to be Paul Pierce-lite. I am excited that we may have got a player good enough to be the best player on a contending team. Again, Chauncey Billups was the best player on a championship team. That doesn't mean I am calling anyone "elite". Also I said he would be "IN THE RUNNING" for ROY. Not that he will win it outright. Get your **** straight, DD.
nothing wrong with him being high on players like brooks or bud, but what really gets under my skin is the way he belittles and downplays other players on his own "favorite" team simply because they might be stepping up their own games and earning minutes on the floor. what a b****y attitude to have i want ALL of the rockets players to succeed, and if that means more distribution of minutes, then win-win as far as i'm concerned. it's a long season and starters need rest anyway.
