Don't believe the "hype". People need to come back down to reality and calm themselves. Yes his team won the NBA Finals however he wasn't even the MVP. Andre Iguodala I repeat Andre fricking Iguodala played better than Curry what does that tell you? Harden had a better season than Curry but got jacked by the voters because of this "hype". I don't think there was anyone who questioned Jordan's Finals or regular season MVPs. To compare the two is like comparing the colors black and white. If I had to build a team today with current active players he definitely would not even be in my top 10. I still think he is an ankle injury away from losing everything. People forget how bad his ankles were and that he missed over 65+ games to begin his career. If you switched out Curry with Ty Lawson I still think the Warriors win 60+ games and win the title. This year was a very fluke year with all the injuries that occurred and GSW was blessed with the easiest path to win it all.
I'm not trying to judge Curry on Jordan's skillset. But what I will say is that Curry makes shooting the 3 look as easy as jordan made flying to the basket. Jordan was never the shooter curry is at any point in his career, so the point is a moot one. But for this generation curry is the player that can leap tall building in a single board. Lebron and Kobe NEVER had that air like Curry does.
I think you're forgetting how huge Lebron's and Kobe's fan bases are (or at least were at their peak). Curry is just the new toy, and off one season you can't call him the new Jordan of marketing.
It's all coaching -- Kerr made Curry an MVP and took a 2nd round team to the championship -- also Jordan punched Steve Kerr.
I don't think Steph is as good as Jordan, but he may be the "Jordan" of this generation in terms of being the popular player that kids want to emulate ("Be like Mike!"). Steph Curry may pale in comparison to Jordan, but that doesn't mean he isn't his generation's Jordan. For the post-Jordan generation, the "new Jordan" was probably Iverson, or maybe Kobe. Neither were as good as Jordan or as popular as Jordan. But they were the players that guys on the playground want to copy.
Totally agree, he is the new "it" player. The way the media shoves EVERY ASPECT of him down our throats and the way casual fans gobble it up. Disgusting, but understandable. You're lying to me if you were young and didn't love the 7 seconds or less Suns
Yeah...no. I'm not one to judge a players talent on rings but Jordan was and is far superior than Curry ever will be. Curry is just a pure shooter. He's amazing at shooting. That's about it.
I think op meant that curry is the next bball idol like Jordan was in his days.. Not comparing styles or stats. Jordan was the face of the nba and was the best player during his time. Curry is now the face of the nba and is slowly becoming one of the best players in today's game.
You think his career is as good as LeBrons? Or you think he is as good as LeBron right now? Either way, dumb. But make your case. I'd like to see it.
