I can't believe how much attention this is getting based on the uncloaked agenda of a third-level Sacramento "reporter" and senile Fran Blinebury.

It's not a big deal. At all.

    AT ALL.

sigh.... I pointed this out yesterday after reading yao's comment. Its not honesty, Yao is just not comfortable with Artest I would say and would never get along with him. I think Artest hit the nail right on the head, Yao is just different. He is not used to people who grew up in "ghetto".

I will say it again, Yao's ego has grown lately. He would never have reacted this way in the past. Yao if he wants to be a leader need to act like one. Put personal ego/preferences/personality/style etc. aside for the betterment of the team. To make those comments without meeting Artest is ridiculous. Now call Artest apologize and move on.

I have to say that Artest is saying all the right things though, can't say that for Yao. Who would have thought this would happen!

no ****... the guy kept asking the same thing over and over hoping to get ron to blow up and create drama where there isn't any.

this whole "issue" is a joke.

I will say this, Yao's comments were honest, and off the cuff, so were Scola's...I thought Yao should have chosen his words a little more carefully, but that's in the past..Artest is right to say he should have talked to him first...

In the end, it's all much ado about nothing...

Yao's communication skill is overrated, just like his impact on the basketball court.

He used to have a translator to cover it up and clean up the mess for him. Even since that translator was gone, he has stupid comments coming from his mouth now and then.

Thanks! great to hear that Yao called Ron. I hope he also clarifies it with Blineburry so there is an article out clarifying things. Then we can all move forward! Why do we always have to have egos/personality clash in a friggin team. Lets just win damnit.

[espn] RON ARTEST responds to YAo's COmments

RON ARTEST responds to YAO's Comments
    Updated: July 31, 2008, 11:16 AM ET
    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3512419

[rquoter]The potential Ron Artest to the Houston Rockets trade may have gotten off on the wrong foot over comments made by Artest's potential teammate, Yao Ming, about Artest's stormy past.

Hopefully, [Artest isn't] fighting anymore and going after a guy in the stands.
    --Yao Ming

A day after the Rockets and Sacramento Kings agreed in principle to a deal sending Artest to Houston for Bobby Jackson, Donte Greene and a first-round draft pick, Yao expressed concerns about team chemistry to the Houston Chronicle and referenced Artest's involvement in the 2004 brawl with Pistons fans.

"Hopefully, he's not fighting anymore and going after a guy in the stands," Yao said, according to the Chronicle.

When asked about those comments, Artest said Yao had bought into "all the propaganda" about him, according to The Sacramento Bee.[/rquoter]

[rquoter]"I understand what Yao said, but I'm still ghetto," Artest said, according to the report. "That's not going to change. I'm never going to change my culture. Yao has played with a lot of black players, but I don't think he's ever played with a black player that really represents his culture as much as I represent my culture. Once Yao Ming gets to know me, he'll understand what I'm about.

If you go back to the brawl, that's a culture issue right there. Somebody was disrespecting me, so he's got to understand where I'm coming from. People that know me know that Ron Artest never changed.
    --Ron Artest

"If you go back to the brawl, that's a culture issue right there," Artest added, according to the report. "Somebody was disrespecting me, so he's got to understand where I'm coming from. People that know me know that Ron Artest never changed."

The agreed-to deal sending Artest to Houston cannot become official until Aug. 14. And Artest, who has one year remaining on his contract, also said he was looking for a long-term deal from the Rockets, according to the report.[/rquoter]

How is going back to the brawl a "cultural" thing?

It's UNEDUCATED people who do this. Not just "black" people. C'mon, RON.

That is offensive, the way he associates his recklessness with being black. But then, you just can't take anything he says too seriously. He doesn't have the same filters most of us work with.
