Yeah when you hear him say it, it is clear that it was partly in jest . He does this all the time. But he has been positive about Sengun for a while now.
If this vote has NO's, they are either trolls, either other team supporters or idiots.. No 4th alternative.. Very clear as this...
That's because I don't think he's just The Rockets best player, I think he is the best player in the entire world....
Have to quote myself here, from 13 months ago. https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/...s-alperen-sengun.317720/page-21#post-14392898
Is there such a thing as an accountability game for player assessments? Let's see what happens when Alpi has his next bad game. Some crap like 17/8/3 or so...we expect better from him at this point.
Props to you. I did not see generational talent or superstar, or even “franchise player” in him to be honest. It was clear that he would be an allstar, that he would be better than Domantas Sabonis, I’ll give myself credit for that. But superstar/franchise player is a high bar in my book, like top 15, or more like top 5-10 type player. Sengun isn’t there yet (at 21 years old) but that’s his trajectory now. Crazy.
Wait until we lose a playoff series, especially if he looks bad on defense. These people will be coming out of the woodwork to say I told you so. As if the same thing didn’t happen to Jokic for years when people doubted him.
Hindsight is of course 20/20, but some of those takes on Jokic that were used to say one "cannot win in the playoffs with the Sengun archetype" are hilarious when you read them today...especially because many of them were written in quite a condescending tone, like anyone who thought you could actually win with a Jokic or Sengun type of center would be an idiot or something.
Just look at clutch fans twitter account and try to find a hint that Sengun is having a historic run as a 21 year old, let alone an all star campaign. If that’s the coverage he gets when he is this good, you know what is coming when he is not this good, not even bad.
One thing I like is how Sengun’s game evolves differently than Jokic’s. He has the same passes, screens but instead of jokic’s midrange shot, Sengun uses his quickness to drive to the basket and actually gets quite a bit fouls this way.
lol you noticed too? When Sengun had a rough stretch we were seeing lowlights of him leaving his man open from 3. Never mind that Jalen and Jabari have looked far worse at times this season and never saw any clips of that. Meanwhile now that there are no lowlights to post, he does not dare to even mention the man’s name even after carrying presumably his favorite team to win after win. Have to respect the elite level pettiness. Was correct for doing so in KPJ’s case, let’s see how it works out this time around.
