aussie rocket knew what he was talking about all along. David Andersen is just horrible. I wish that they hadn't ever signed him from the beginning. He's too soft on the glass and too soft on the inside missing layups and dunks. smh give the mintues to Hill for sure. I thing he can at least rebound, play a little D, and not miss his dunks.

I think that there are to many young posters that just automatically jump on Moreys jock-strap and think any thing he does is going to turn out good. So they just pile on the bandwagon without thought.

In Moreys eyes I think this was a low cost risk that might workout, but if it did not it would not cost much. Is next year a team option or what? If you think back there was not many low cost options that were available, only old broken down centers slow unable to run with a running team. We needed one that was mobile.

In the last 60+ years I have known 3 guys from Australia and they were all damn serious about sports! So I listen.

I lol'd at his travel last night, that was halarious.

BTW it seems like when he shoots he has to use all his strength just to get it to the rim. He's "thrusting" profusely <--probably spelled wrong.

    David Andersen,
Thanks for being the best player for the other team.

I still think he can be a valuable piece to have on the roster. A "shooting PF next to Yao" role, occasionally. Keep in my mind he's a rookie, and he will improve his defense next season. More like hypothetical PF.

He has 2 more years to go after this one. I think it's at 2.5M/yr.

It's a low risk move, however I'm concerned that he is regressing rather than improving. He does have a role as a spacing 5/4,but defense and rebounding needs a lot of hard work and time.

I know this is an appreciation thread but man I hate this guy.. the most uncoordinated nba player I've ever seen.. he has the skillset sort of, the shot, a little post game, but he sucks at it. If he could do what he does with more skill, he'd be ok a little. But his overall game is just screwed up, and don't get me started on his defense!!!

I think he will be a good piece to have next year next to Yao. I think that Adelman sees Andersen as a Brad Miller project.

He is too off balance and uncordinated.

He NEVER passes the ball, and the 3pt shot is about 2 feet beyond his comfort level.

Not a bad risk to take, but not sure he is as good as advertised, I doubt they would sign him again if they had the chance.

I think next year he'll have the Brian Cook role.

He's basically an expiring contract next year. He's owed $2.5M next season and $2.685M the year after that, but his contract is only guaranteed for $185,000 in 2011-12. That might actually make him an attractive trade asset in the summer of 2011.

Agreed that he was a low risk addition. So what if it cost Les Alexander $2M cash and a second rounder sometime in the next decade (no sooner than 2013)? SOMEONE had to play center this season, and Les saved so much money this year (especially after the deadline day trade) that he can afford to buy a pick better than any pick that Houston will end up giving to Atlanta for Andersen's rights.

Agreed on most of your evaluation, but I've got to disagree with you about the "no passing" part. He is actually a very good passer on the perimeter. He swings the ball very quickly from the top of the key over to the weak side. True, he rarely passes out of the post, but that's mostly because (a) he only gets it in the post when he has a clear mismatch and (b) the other team never doubles down on him. Why SHOULD he pass it in those situations? I don't have a problem with his passing at all.

(Now, if he could just make his damn jumpshot more consistently . . .)

Thanks for the details. I've never been concerned about what it cost Les to get him. I hope he can get better.

    Once again...

He's the 9th player in the rotation.

He's the 9th highest player on the team. Armstrong and Hill make more, where are their 'appreciation' threads?

He's 9th in PER, although Hill's is higher, he hasn't played much here so you can throw his out and then DA is 8th.

He's 8th in scoring on the team and 9th in minutes played.

So, he's pretty much what was expected. The people who were obviously expecting Dwight Howard when the trade happened should probably give up on that.

just cause you don't get an assist doesn't mean you don't pass.

    Cmon DD you know that.
