This is from another thread. It makes sense that Battier would hate Tracy if he's busting his balls only to see Tmac slacking off, then blame his own teammates.
i wonder if the team will continue to overly defer to tmac on the court (when he comes back). if he's such an unbelievable douche (as Doc Rocket has said), i would think it would start to spill over on the court...maybe freezing him out. also, i wonder what ron's take on all of this is. i know he made the comment to the media about tracy sometimes thinking his talent is enough, and that he can "coast" because of it, but in reality needs to work harder. that's a pretty strong statement to begin with. but if tmac's locker room antics have reached mega-douchedom, i'd have to believe someone would stand up to tmac. i would think it would be ron...
None that he mentioned. Just pointed out the general dislike and that Battier in particular liked to rail on him to others. Not surprising when you think about. To most of us, TMac looks like a jake and that has got to be annoying to someone who is thought of as the consummate teammate. I know for a fact that they know that TMac didn't come close to doing what it takes to properly rehab from his injury. That has got to sting for a guy like Yao who busted his ass this past summer to get ready for the Olympics and the season.
Not to be rude, but do u think yao wouldve shut it down for the season if not for the olympics being held in china?
Yao didn't shut it down, management did. There is no way they would have risked his career allowing him to play on an injury that has crippled players in the past. That is an injury you don't play with.
Yeah, everyone thinks that. My sources tell me that Rafer and Battier aren't speaking and that Rafer wants She-ane out.
Ummm... yeah... and that's when all the Yao haters will start crying about how come Yao doesn't play close to the basket and why he isn't getting enough boards. The last place we need Yao is 15 ft out from the basket.
actually IBM is right. if yao can consistently make those shots, our offense will actually have a chance to be what adelman wants it to be. the reason the yao "haters" come out of the closet when this happens b/c yao is useless when he goes out there. if he was good out there, nobody would complain.
Doc, I really don't question your truthfulness, but if something like this is true, it raises a few eyebrows, and questions? It first makes me wonder, who on the Rockets team even begins to have the credentials or moral authority to waste T-Mac in the media? Or, even to his face in private? Aside from Battier's political career, his 10 points, 3 rb, 1 or so assists , and countless intangibles for his career don't lend itself well to criticism of McGrady. Couldn't this play into his reluctance to go to the press? He hasn't done much himself, eh? And he certainly can't be accused of being a leader, just a politician. And who else on the team? Yao, hasn't played enough the last few years to drop any TMac criticism. He works hard, sure, but where is the improvement? What are his playoff acheivements? Rafer? The career shooting slump can call out TMac? Where has his improvement been? More DWIs and fights? what about Ron? he plays with effort, and while hurting...sure. But he really hasn't been here long enough. And how many playoff wins does he have? Scola...not a chance. Hasn't been here long enough anyway. Now, except for the old-timers, Deke and Barry, we go to guys who have never been NBA starters. Player with potential, perhaps, but...wow You think it is beyond the point of return, but, if it were me, I would think twice before I would burn bridges with TMac if I were on his team less than half way through a season and there were some rough patches. I think I would be humble and try to work my way through it. None of TMac's teammates have anything under their belt to point a finger, and that is just fact. I can only hope that you, and others, blow this far out of proportion, because if I was TMac I would have to chuckle at a team who seems to have given up on him. I would want out. Exactly who has quit and given up on who?
Go back and watch the Toronto game. T-Mac took one step over the half court line and watched his team play four on five basketball. That was one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen in the NBA. The towel boy has the stature to call T-Mac out on that game.
there are alot of eye BROWS being raised in houston this year. Why dont we put mcgrady out there. And bring back mike miller & randy foye? I hate all this
Zilches, Any of his teamates could call him out, if he is not working hard. They are all professionals, earning a paycheck and they are counting on him. If someone is dogging it, no matter how talented they are, the rest of the team will and should call him out...."In the locker room" TMac is sounding like Captain Sobells in "Band of Brothers"...... DD
that was from van gundy school, wasn't it? i don't think it's all right. yao is no shaq. and the game has changed from the 90's. if he can hit that midrange, it expands his games and open up the offense for the team. why not? not saying he has to do that half of the time, just sometimes. of course, the pre-assumption is he has to be able to hit it.
But we don't have anyone else who's got size and can board. its not like he has otis thorpe or dennis rodman
I can go with this. However, the good Doc and perhaps you and some others here have escalated this far beyond Rafer popping off his mouth to t-Mac in the locker room. We have Yao behind the scenes going to management, the good Doc saying the damage is beyond repair with the team, Battier bursting at the seams to go to the media, 2 deals on the table, etc. I don't have any knowledge of all this, so I can just hope it is overblown. If I were on his team, I don't think I would be so eager to give up on T-Mac. I'd at least try to win a slam dunk contest or something first.
