On the bright side, the fine is supposed to go to NBPA. Charities include youth basketball programs. Or help offset costs by the next City that hosts the All-Star game.
After almost being dealt for Harden, Ben Simmons is back under the microscope "I think Philly missed an opportunity and now is stuck being in the middle of the East," an Eastern Conference executive told HoopsHype's Michael Scotto. "They're not as good as Brooklyn, Milwaukee, Boston, and in the end, Miami. They might just be a No. 5 seed by end of the season. Ben Simmons has not improved in one area of his game at all since coming into the league. He's the same player today as he was in his rookie year, and teams have figured him out in the playoffs. He's why they won't go far." https://www.thescore.com/nba/news/2092422 Ouch!
I wonder what analytics he saw in hiring Doc Rivers? Only coach to choke THREE 3-1 playoff leads in NBA History. Also coughed up multiple 2-0 and 3-2 leads .
I wonder what Morey is gonna do with Simmons now. Simmons at this point has little value around the league and Milton, Maxey, etc. Are all far and away better than him and better offensively. My guess is they'll have to package him with picks to a team in exchange for another bad contract guy.
What are you talking about? According to @HP3 Simmons is easily worth a top 3 pick or 2 lotto picks. Just use common sense. Take it away brotha!
"Simmons is easily worth a top 3 pick or 2 lotto picks." LOOL. I don't think Morey could trade away Simmons right now if he tried (and my guess is he's trying VERY HARD). Simmons contract is an albatross and his game is broken with no jump shot on the horizon and an offensive game that stymies anyone else from getting into the flow of the game. Brandon Ingram was the #2 pick in that 2016 draft class and has clearly emerged as the better player and talent, while Jaylon Brown (taken #3), Jamal Murray (#7), Domantas Sabonis (#11), Caris Levert (#20), and Pascal Siakam (#27) are all more valuable players than Simmons at this point in their careers.
I believe some team would def take Simmons it just wont be a kings ransom to be worth it. He is like Steph Curry you need a bunch of superstars around him otherwise he wont be able to do **** by himself. Simmons would be the perfect 3rd wheel if you alrady got 2 dominant scorers for ex Celtics have Tatum and Brown Simmons would totally complete that big 3.
Who were the bunch of superstars around Curry from 2012-13 to 2015-16 when they started their playoff run? As for Ben Simmons, agreed that many teams wouldn't pay a kings ransom for him. Perhaps one or two would, but I doubt the haul would be equal to the Harden trade. His shooting deficiency presents serious FIT issues and yet his age (24), being a 6-11 ball handler and elite defense are tremendous attributes. That's like a much better version of prime Draymond Green (dray better interior defender, Simmons better scorer, ball handler, passer, perimeter defender). I could see the Warriors offering the t-wolves pick, their 2020 pick and a couple more picks along with anyone not name curry/klay/wiseman to make it work, but I doubt Philly would be interested. Agreed he'd be perfect in in Boston with Tatum & Brown, but would Philly be interested in Kemba and all of Bostons future picks for the next 7 years? Boston would/should certainly agree with that trade. Toronto and Portland could be good fits with trades around Lowry/Picks, CJ/Picks, but again doubt Morey would entertain it. The most likely and best scenario would be WAS and Beal. Simmons + a pick or two would give the WAS a 24 year old star to build around. The WB fit doesn't matter as they should tank and look to compete a year or two from now when WB is traded or expired. Avdija, Rui and Simmons will the core/future along with whoever they pick up in the next two drafts. For Philly Beal would be an ideal fit next to Embid and is approximately the same age.
Morey has Phili 1st in the East. Harden and MDA are with Brooklyn 2nd in the East. Where are you at Tilman?
