Totally agree. We have KM Jr. who in my opinion is a better/taller/more athletic younger option. Plus we will have The Turkish MVP and Jabari to man the 4/5 spots. JChris to be 6th man. Draft a solid big for defense rim protector to back up.

just need to trade Ego/wood and 17th to move up into top 10. Buy out wall and resign the German to be the vet leader.

easy. I should start charging for these franchise changing takes.

Tate is older and has surplus value now based on being better than his contract. Unlike Wood and Gordon (and Nwaba to a much lesser extent) who's contracts may be needed to match salaries, losing Tate's contract does not have the same opportunity cost.

On KMJ starting, I'm fine with it, but it doesn't move needle one way or the other regarding potentially trading Tate.

I doubt he gets more than the full MLE.

If he does get more than that from some other team, good for him. And bye.

But let’s say we can retain him for the MLE. Would you do it?

I think Tate's a keeper on a reasonable contract. He brings leadership and heart which we don't really have outside of him. That alone is worth a ton. He also plays all out against guys he's giving up 5 - 8" on. I think he'll be better than Tucker when it's all said and done and that's the kind of guy you want to have now and hold on to. I'm not down with trading him. Could think of a lot of other guys to move first.

Add a Chet Holmgren or a Jabari Smith with the first pick, Tari Eason if you can with the 17th, and buy a second rounder for Christian Braun and start playing each game to win.

Let Schroder walk. Buyout Wall. Nwaba may have to be cut. Gordon trade for a future 1st. Wood trade for a future first and salary.

    P.G. - Porter Jr. / Nix
    S.G. - Green / Christopher / Braun
    S.F. - Martin Jr. / Mathews / Eason
    P.F. - Holmgren or Smith / Tate / Garuba
    ..C. - Sengun / Fernando

I liked what Curry said after last night game. "It doesn't matter." when asked if he should start of come off the bench.
Tate would be ideal for 30 minutes off the bench. He already thinks he is a 1 man fast break. It works for him a lot of times

Jae'Sean Tate is expiring, will be 27 to start next season, is undersized, is a poor perimeter shooter, and has only played for literally the worst team in the NBA, which will devalue the numbers he puts up here.

I don't think his value is close to what many expect. I'd guess he's worth a mid/early 2nd to select playoff teams.

My willingness to move Tate for a 2nd would depend on who we get with our picks, our FO's expectations with KJM/Garuba, and our plans with Nwaba.

i feel almost the opposite of this. i think he would be a GREAT post-season player because of his win-at-all-costs type atittude and comittment.

yes as a STARTER he would be exposed, but if your team is making the playoffs Tate is a specialist off the bench to throw a monkey wrench at any high level offensive player. Just having Tate go full blast for 20-25 minutes would be a god-send for most playoff teams.

I think if teams are able to get away with helping off of him basically making your offense 4 on 5, he will be a liability

This was my first reaction. I agree Tate trade be considered but is his value really that high? Is his defense really that good? Yes he hustles and stuff but is a contending team really going to look at him and think PJ Tucker, James Posey type? I don't think a team will be willing to move down even 5 spots to get him

    Yes, yes they should.

Thought he should have been gone at the trade deadline with EGo.

In all seriousness, if you're not a good shooter by age 26, you never will be. You don't have the natural hand eye coordination needed to be one, even if you put up 1000 shots per day in practice.

That's the big question. Given that he played in those final 7 games and the fact we've yet to set Stone trade someone that really wanted to be here, it's tough to see it happening. But it should.

    How about this?

    Warriors get:
    Wood
    Tate

    Rockets get:
    Wiseman
    28th pick

    Rockets package:

    Gordon
    17th
    28th pick

To move into the lottery. LMAO!!!!

Great article. Trading Tate shouldn't even be controversial - it's common sense. It's a numbers game, and either we continue to sit Garuba (or push him out into the G League), treat Martin as a backup, and even risk sacrificing time from a possible PF that we draft this coming year, or we move him and avoid all of that. His low salary means we should be able to trade him pretty easily, and I think many of the teams you highlighted would take the BKN pick + Tate for their pick.
