I think the micro fracture surgery came at a convienient time for McGrady. It kept him from being traded last year and it gave him a way to restart his career. Hopefully he can have a fresh start doing what he needs and fitting in somewhere. Time will tell. Im not a McGrady fan and unfourtunately its left the rockets faithfull wanting something better for the future. I hope he gets traded or he just gets to work and stops crying. He's got it all while we are left waiting for a championship. Ill say a few prayers!

    pardon the spelling:)

if he did it in orlando why are ppl so suprised he did it in houston

tmac reminds me of my old friend baller in high school
he was better then us and everynow and then we'd just flat out ride his back to win games

well everynow and then that would just piss him off that he had to do all the scoring and just flat out wouldnt shoot

i mean double pick/screens open pass cuz he was mad why am i scoring the load

i know tmac does that..he wants someone else to score but of course that was yao's job

So many posts criticizing Tracy McGrady. At times, I come close to thinking that it was not McGrady who quit on his fans, but it was the fans that quit on Tracy McGrady. But I would never actually come to that conclusion, so please keep that in mind, shall we?

And usually, those who criticize, only look at the big picture, ignoring critical details.

2008 playoffs.. Missing Rafer, Yao, bum shoulder/bum knee, clearly getting blown out, still out there competing.

It's not that big a deal, some people here are just b****es. So what he went to Screamin A smith, Probably no one in this organization had his back, they certainly dont have it now. He was Injured and the whole city hated him for being injured. If he wasn't busting his ass trying to give the team at least a chance to win he Probably wouldn't be so injured all the damn time. . He gives us the best chance to win, regardless of his shenanigans. So what he' shuman he makes mistakes.

Because he didn't contest a dunk? Really? If that's the case

    Your weird.

Anyways, T-Mac lost me last season as well.

To those T-mac supporters... what makes you think he has changed?

    Perfect article.

The Toronto game is EXACTLY the reason why I don't want to see Tracy McGrady in a Rockets uniform ever again. He is not a good fit for this team. I went on record before the start of the season saying that the Rockets would lose 50 games this year. The reason that I am going to be wrong about that prediction is because of their incredible heart and determination. Tracy McGrady doesn't have either one of those two things.

    Good riddance!

It's easy to forget now the guy is a prodigy who made millions straight out of high school. He talks too much for his own good and he doesn't really know how to deal with the media. So what. His unselfish, astronomical playoff performances with chronically under-talented teams over his career speak volumes for what he brings to the table.

TMac isn't expected to come back and be "the man". There aren't going to be many plays run for him and he'll have the ball in his hands less. But he's still a playmaker and a closer, it's what he was born to do. The biggest issue here is if his ego will allow him to adjust to change, can he get past the JVG day's of isolation after isolation? If he settles into a role, isn't fixated on being a ball stopper and then starts incorporating his talent, all will be forgotten. The fickle nature of the media can also work for you.

So you mean the playoffs right? That does not define having a low standard to me given his playoff performances...

    There's a difference.

    1) T-Mac was ahead of the play because he wasn't really playing on the offensive end.. He was already ahead and in front of Moon.... so he had a chance to foul him to prevent the dunk.

    2) I don't think it's just that play. I think Clutch's article is spot on when he talks about later on after that play when T-Mac just decided to stand out near half court while the other 4 rockets ran the play on the offensive end.

This is the most ridiculous thing I have heard in awhile.

If you want to make it simple, the reality is that Rocket fans who support McGrady love what he brings to the basketball court. At his best, he is a creator, shot maker, closer, and all of those things that made him a superstar in the first place. I know he no longer that player, but right now he would still be the most talented Rocket. Who would not want to add a guy who has talent like that?

I personally am one who wants him to come back. But I will tell you this, I completely understand the counter argument of getting rid of him. It is just two different views. Different views do not make one side Rockets fans and the other side not.

No one in their right mind can defend what he has done to this organization.
The different times he has quit on this organization is close to unforgiveable. I was having a conversation with my Father regarding McGrady and we both "know" that if McGrady had multiple years left on his contract, playing this year would not even be a question. Clearly McGrady is only looking for his next deal.

I agree with everyone though, I want this to be wrapped up quickly.

    1) the article is about the attitude reflected by standing around at half court, not the dunk.

    2) it's the tipping point of a larger "body of work", not an overnight change. The larger picture in Houston would be enough evidence but he didn't get hated out of Orlando for no good reason either. Is the common denominator that the Rockets and the Magic are diseased organizations? Or is it the player who is the problem?

critical details like coming into camp out of shape, not doing his rehab properly, not putting himself in a position to lead his team, skipping out on practice, not wanting to work on his game when he clearly needed to, confronting the coach in front of the entire team because he didn't want to run the laps that everyone else ran, announcing emergency surgery for a non-loaded surface of his knee when the prescription of the best knee doctor in town was "rest", calling attention to himself before games and in the media, getting mad at teammates who take "his" rebounds or who don't finish "his" assists, ensuring the organization gave him special treatment as much as possible . . . and quitting. those critical details?

i suppose i should congratulate him for doing what he is paid to do. jesus. i don't get a bonus if i show up 9-5 and do my job. i get a bonus if i show up, do my job, get things done, and do them better than everyone else, leading to positive results for myself, my team, and my organization. he's expected to lead the team somewhere, not put up empty stats. its a results oriented business, and he has not delivered. that's the bottom line.

True, the NEW direction the Rockets are taking relies on players that fit the coach's scheme. Doesn't take away from Tmac playing within a system, JVG's system.

You mean a team that had those crappy players i listed? Scott Padgett? David Wesley? Or how about a team with a coach, JVG, that had the most predictable plays known to man. Sure, tmac erroneously took heat checks but praises from JVG lead me to believe it wasnt solely his choice. No superstar makes all their heat checks. All superstars shoot their team out of the game from time to time. that's part of the package.

That goes to show you have bad our PF position really was, we were excited to have stromile swift. No one can make Swift an allstar. Maybe he shouldnt have said he was going to make swift an allstar but you gotta like the TEAM mentality he had in trying to make his teammates better.

I dont really know what he does with his game. I thought he was missing rehab sessions the summer prior to Ron Ron coming here, only to find out later, from the doctor, that he was actually putting in the hard work (to paraphrase the rockets doctor)

I like how, despite still being a McGrady supporter, you actually have a good dose of realism, Ronny. It sure beats the hell out of arguing about 13 in 35 for the 938324324th time.

We ALL know how talented McGrady is and how much basketball IQ he has but that sense of hubris he also carries in his mind is his is Achilles' heel. I really don't think he can accept that role like how Iverson is with the Sixers. It has to take a really, REALLY big slap in the face (like how no one had wanted Iverson to the point where he got depressed and embarrassed and prematurely retired) to make a player of McGrady's talent/ego to change his stripes/spots.
