At this point if Im the team I would stay the course, none of us in here get to see his practices and again he came off of a major surgery and that in itself has its own time line. To me it seems as if a veteran coach like Adelman could care less what the media or the fans think about when Tracy is coming back, he's got a team to coach and he's going to do everything he can to win as many games as possible. Im still sticking with January as when finally starts to play. But I will tell you everyday we get closer to the trade deadline in February, its going to hot and heavy around here with trade rumors.

I wouldn't say trade rumors, more like trade ideas. No team wants Tracy McGrady and his 23 million dollar contract.

I really don't think rockets are going to be able to trade him, not Morey's style to have bad contracts on the roster when you have one expiring.

That you're arrogant enough to think that the future HoF coach whom has examined McGrady's status plenty enough, knows less about how T-Mac's doing than you do?

Depends on how financially desperate teams are around the deadline and if they want to go in a different direction with their own teams. I wouldn't be surprised if the rockets were to include a Landry or a Brooks in a potential deal for a go to guy and some players.

Matching 23 million dollars is hard to do. Any player making anywhere close to that amount of money is not going to be traded for Tracy McGrady.

    Good points.

I just find that on this board that people who like T-Mac or want to see how he performs on this currently constructed team are defined as blind and/or whatever the label may be. But in doing so they don't realize that some of their comments, if judged in the same manner, make them blinded by whatever the team says or does.

I'm not picking a fight with enough on this topic, but I just would like to see people be even handed in their criticisms and their own self analysis. The justifications for both sides seem to have a lot more in common than people seem or want to give it credit for.

My example is simple, many of you/us didn't buy into all of the negativity that the media said about the team prior to the season. WE didn't know what we were going to have but we still believed in them and that they would do better than the naysayers thought. Now be honest, the team has done better than what many of us thought. I understand it is still early but just humor me here.

If we can exhibit that kind of faith/belief for that, then why are people who are applying this same type of belief in wanting see T-Mac healthy and getting a chance being criticized in such a negative manner?

I got sucked in...EPIC fail on my part CQ !

This is true it would have to be a few contracts, maybe one long term one expiring next season and a player you actually want....

This really for me says it all. I was very excited when we traded for Mac. I believed in him and what he said he could do for the Rockets. Mac gave us
some fine moments but quit. yes he quit. Things didn't go his way so he took the easy way out. I would have welcomed him back if he would have kept his mouth closed, worked hard and been accountable. He really didn't do any of those things. And Those of you who thinks he is ready, you don't know, so stop acting like you do. He says he is ready so it must be true right? what a joke. And this whole Kobe thread about quitting, who cares, it has nothing to do with the Rockets, which is why everyone is supposed to be here. This is not the Houston mcGradys. Mac is not bigger than the team. I'm done with him and I hope the Rockets are too. I AM A FAN OF THE HOUSTON ROCKETS. Maybe some of you will remember that the team comes first and become Rocket fans again.

Even if that was a possibility, you also have to look at the future, who is staying and who is leaving? Who wants more money on their next contract? How many players will we have? A lot of factors come into play, I say keep McGrady and let his contract expire and at the end of they season you can have 27 million dollars to play around with. (23 (McGrady) + Cook (3.5 Million))

I bet these T-mac fans buy NBA2k10 and press '2 player game',

    Lakers vs Rockets

They play as Tmac and purposely make the 2nd controller Kobe.

What they do with Kobe is they just make him stand there, so they can have Tmac score points on Kobe.

I'm pretty sure they do that.

    Tran,

This is the same mistake a lot of people make.

Because the Rockets are over the cap, if they let McGrady expire it would get them to roughly $7 million under the cap, which they could spend.

Then they have to deal with Luis and Lowry who will want raises.

So, if they simply let him expire they get an additional MLE type of player with their $7 million cap room, whereas if they trade him, they have the potential to get a $10million dollar player like Monta Ellis if they take on a bad contract like Maggettes.

This way, they actually get MORE by trading him than they would by letting him expire.

Letting him expire would be the last resort if all else has failed.....

    I hope that makes sense.

Look, I know alot of people were really upset about that game.

He allowed his frustrations determine HOW he was going to play. Being down by a lot, feeling frustrated with his game, with his injuries, being angry.

He handled it like a 4 year old kid.

I think he has had a really really hard past few seasons. And that can be used to bury a guy...or it can be an opportunity for someone to do a lot of soul searching.

T-mac is an interesting guy because as much as a prima donna as he is, he's also is very introspective and heartfelt at times. He's capable of seeing a bigger picture once he gets past his self-absorbed defensive attitude.

The man has been totally humilated, not only from being bashed by the media in YET ANOTHER city...that dunk, being called a quitter....this time it really sunk through. Before he could just write it off. Because it wasn't the whole league bashing him. IT wasn't the national media.

He got bashed by the Rockets, the fans, and the NATIONAL media this time. Not only that, that missed dunk had Ron Artest laughing at him. Basically - he embarrased himself out there, and he knew.

Give the guy credit - instead of rolling over, he got the surgery done - maybe partly as an excuse. Let's face it, we was not content and was pretty upset. From his perspective, he tried to play through an injury and was "not appreciated" for it. That's totally juvenile, but that's his world.

So he got his ass in gear and did what he was suppose to - trained like a superstar should have to. But he thought he could just waltz back in....and the team wouldn't.

And he knows why. He here's how the media PRAISES this team. He here's how the fans say the love this NEVER QUIT and NEVER STOP HUSTLING TEAM. He hears the media ask, "Will he muck up the chemistry", he knows people doubt the Rockets are better off with him than without.

he messed up big time. But he's so talented, and he's finally stumbling his way to the right path.

I'd like to see T_mac play in a Rockets uniform again, and I'd like to see if we see a different type of player come out.

He's doing all the right things. Working hard. Coming to practices. and finally, NOT TALKING TO THE MEDIA.

Ok, give the guy a shot. He's on thin ice. He has to earn it back. But isn't he taking those small steps - can we at least give him a bit of credit?

If he keeps it up, he will get his shot, and THAT is the right way to go about it.

All teams struggle against that the Rockets are over it now....they will need to do some work to get under the cap, but they have until the end of the year to get there.

I don't think that there is anyone here who wouldn't like to see that transpire. However, I think it's a once bitten twice shy scenario. We've seen how he responds in the past and hopefully if he has "changed" (which I don't know that anyone can fundamentally change who they are.. but I digress) he is rebuilding the bridges he burned last year doing things the right way, as you said.

I just won't hold my breath.

Would be hard to get a deal like that since nobody has seen Tracy play and since Golden State pretty much relies on Monta Ellis to do everything for them, unless they want Tracy McGrady to take that role for half a season.
