When dealing with pro players of any sport, I don't take any action personal. No matter who they are or what the make, they're just a man. Kobe, tiger, jordan, ali or whomever else we throw out there. Maybe that's why I don't care to get into situations about people. People were surprised at the tiger stories, but he has faults just all of us. He just so happens to be a billionaire. Kobe basically quit in a playoff game and was having a big poo poo 2 summers ago and had a rape charge on his resume. I still thought of him as I do today as a helluva basketball player who helps his team win games. In the end, ownership and management will make the best decisions for the franchise. Until that happens, there will be tracy threads popping up 2 or 3 times daily when we really should be admiring what these young guys are doing. They did say fan is short for fanatic, but I don't subscribe to that definition.

Ironic coming from you. I would think McGrady would need his a lot more if he were to make a comeback.

I, for one, hope he remains a Rocket and he and the team succeed.

If he is traded, I hope both the Rockets and T-Mac do well. But because of all this unnecessary hype and agitation, I wanna see Battier (Mr. All-World Defender) guard him and get toasted. It would be my basketball version of the VY vs. Texans saga.

I choose to respectfully disagree with Clutch and a lot of the others concerning T-Mac no matter the purposeful citations that you may use. There is no such thing as an objective analysis (quantitatively/qualitatively) if your interpretation involves personal beliefs, feelings and/or experiences.

Look at it this way, everyone can move on to some full-time Ariza bashing/loving once the McGrady smoke clears. We can rinse & repeat with that for at least the next couple of seasons.

Meh...to me the article is once again another criticism of Tracy McGrady taken too far. The problem with people on the witch hunt for Tracy McGrady is they completely ignore everything he has contributed to the Rockets orgnization.

They ignore his performance in every playoff series he has been in (and blame him for every loss, ignoring the fact that our SOFT ASS 7'6 center allowed Carlos Boozer and Mehmet Okur to abuse him). They ignore the fact that Dallas actually was a better team then us (and McGrady played amazing that series, he gets little of that blame IMO). McGrady haters work in absolutes. Its always ALL of his fault, everyone else escapes the blame. Luther Head shooting 5% on open threes is TMac's fault. Everything is his fault. These same people demonizing him for trying to play last year hurt ignore the fact that the man has fought through injuries for a while. His body is brittle, is that his fault?

Does he have his deficiencies? Sure he does. Sometimes he lets situations get the best of him and he whines to the media. Sometimes he doesn't accept responsibility for things. Sometimes he does stop the ball, sometimes he does play bad defense. Is he some evil team wrecker that never tried hard for the Rockets? Abso-effing-lutely NOT. Saying things like Tracy McGrady quits in the playoffs is absurd haterism, and statements like these are quite frequent. I'm not a TMac fan, i'm just a realist. I'll knock Tracy for his actions (like how he mishandled last year), but I won't forget how he busted his ass for us EVERY year in the playoffs, or how he busted his ass a couple of years ago when Yao went down, or how he refused to QUIT against the elimination game in Utah when his teammates were running scared around him. I remember those things, most of you do not. That is the difference between a sound basketball fan and the T-Mac hater brigade.

Interesting and convincing evidence. Two plays and his own words are enough to show he's not dedicated to the Rockets.
I could present more evidence about that. McGrady also played very badly in the 2008 playoffs, 2007 playoffs and 2005 playoffs, which could be seen in both boxscores and videos. More recent evidence is that he did not do well in the last regular season, no dunk, no triple-double. Come on Mr. 20 million, you confessed you only played for your statistics in your 2003-04 Rockets season, our team would be better without you.

You kidding me? Yao received more criticism then t-mac after that series.

tracy still had tons of supporters among rockets fans back then...
the hate he is receiving now is his own doing.

Those are very minor things to be honest.

Look, the only question that matters is if T-mac is a guy who can help us going forward.

Do you have to forget about the past? No. Don't. People have every right to be bitter and hold the past against the guy.

But if he can be a player that fills a role and helps us win - and I think that's the case, then let's see if he can fit with this team.

Up until the last few year - no one complained about T-mac. People didn't rip him apart during the JVG era. Why is that? So the guy had a terrible year last year from many angles.

Forget it? No. You have every right not to. But I still say he can help us win. IF, and I admit it's a big if, if he can show us that he has grown.

You have to give people that opportunity though if you want to find out. How would you feel if T-mac moved to another team, showed he had changed, and was an integral piece to winning a ring?

Will that happen, probably not. But again, I don't think it risks anything for the Rockets to let him play and see what he can show. We're stuck with him for this year. Might as well play him and see if he can fit in.

What? You said people here were ignoring the fact Yao got owned by Booz/Okur. Yao easily received just as much criticism as T-mac did, if not more.

T-mac had a TON of supporters two years ago, the **** he has done since, is why he is hated.

You wanna explain why all of a sudden his fan support among rocket fans has dwindled down to a handful?

Well, looks like I'm a little late to the party here, but it's good to see that everyone has gone out, bought some glue, and then repeatedly whacked said glue with a blunt instrument. As such, I have nothing more to add, except this:

    Thanks Clutch. Great write up.
