Never been a big supporter of the guy or at least not for a few years. I was happy to have him in Houston and pretty pleased with his first season. His second season left me disappointed (the mystery absences pissed me off). For some time now I thought he was an all world talent but never a guy who could carry a team to a Championship. Last season, the addition of Artest and knowing Scola and Landry would return and be even better than before made me think we had enough to win even with the shortcomings of McGrady (and Yao).

McGrady torpedoed that. More than that, I just can't support bringing a guy back when he has been a quitter his entire career. There is no logical reason to (especially factoring in his behavior this season) to expect anything more than what he has always been. That isn't good enough anymore.

It would not surprise me one bit if he came back and put up great numbers and helped the team get more wins in the regular season. The problem is that McGrady is at his best when the expectations are low and the pressure is off. Look at his career. When his team is the underdog or not expected to win much he is awesome. The minute his team is expected to win he folds and then he cries about it later. He cries that he gave all he had but my eyes tell me different when I watch him refuse to go to the rim in the final minutes of close games or when I see him fail to make a defensive stop.

We know who McGrady is. Some people just won't accept it.

    1. yea he gave a timetable, mabye because his team didnt. They repeatedly said not timetable. I dont but i would like to have a due date. Again mcgrady thought he would be active once the mri had shown nlothing. He knew it wasnt going to show anything so we wanted to come back sooner. Stop overreacting
    2. You nailed it. Mcgrady put on the jersey when he knew he wasnt going to be activated, thats why he went through his usual workout before the game, which meant he KNEW HE WASNT GOING TO PLAY> He didnt put it on in attempt to persuade the cooach to let him play. Rick even joked about it later on. AGain its fans and media making a big deal out of nothing.
    3. He complained because he didnt feel the organization and himself were communicating well. You can see he has a point, as rick had to explain to him why they didnt bring him back after the mri and what they had planned for him.

i just dont understand why people think mcgrady coming into the season with a knee injury and shoulder problems, felt 100%. I am sure he was thinking the same think you were, and thats what probably made him come back when he wasnt ready. Are you telling me you never seen a guy win the game off of a jumpshot. Are you telling me a guy only wants it if he drives to the rim. I have seen mcgrady fail to make a defensive stop, just like i have seen any other player in the nba fail to make a defensive stop. I know who mcgrady is, and i am hoping a guy who has his confidence back, and his athletic ability back, can be an effective player agian

Clutch are your initials R.A by any chance? Great article. I especially loved the anti-Cal Ripken reference. That's hilarious.

With that said, I still want to see Mcgrady back. We all deserve second chances don't we? Hell some even get 3.

oh okay, the same guy who put up 40 pts in the final game of the rockets playoff hopes, but yea your right, preach about wanting team ball, and later blaming an individual for a playoff series lost.

but its the same think with my tenn titans. Vince young before he came back ppl didnt care about what he did. we felt he quit on the team was a bust. We were rooting for kerry collins as we went 13-3. Now collins is out due to poor play and vince young has helped get us to 6-7 after an 0-6 start. people are cheering for vince and booing collins now. Again this is sports, its not a marriage, where most likely if i cheat on you, you wont want me back. people will forget, or better yet forgive if t-mac can still help houston win. You have to give it time.

mcgrady does stay in shape during the summer, unless he has idk mabye a surgery that holds im out from doing his normal routine. For all of this notion that t-mad doesnt work hard, i never hear the coaches or teammates that say, this guys isnt working hard. or this guy shows up to camp out of shape.
Its mcgradys personality on the court that make people feel he doesnt care. I dont think he would have lasted so long in the nba if he didnt care. Mcgrady isnt going to be the most expressional person out on the court, but every little thing he does is microscoped

Don't you think this might be a precursor to a trade that might not meet the expectations of a lot of Rockets fans? Maybe it's the Toronto connection. I don't know.
