You know, had I said this in say, '97-'98, everyone who knew anything about the NBA would laugh me out of town... but the only two teams I really fear right now are the Kings and the Grizzlies.

Yeah, last time I checked, no one geared their defense specifically to stop the fearsome Pau Gasol. Have you not noticed that Yao has been consistently putting up numbers in the neighborhood of 30-10-2 whenever he being played single coverage? Not only does he alter games on the offensive end, but on the defensive end. There's gotta be some reason the Rockets have led the league in opponent's FG%.

Oh yeah. Yao has these things called "personality" and "charisma." Those will take you far in this league.

THE ROCKETS ARE GOING TO BLOW OUT THE GRIZZ. They are an average team playing excellent team ball. It won't last and they will be out of the playoffs in the first round.

One is playing as well as he will ever play and the other has just scratched the surface. Let's project next years stats based on the BS stats you are referring to.

Hope JVG sees it the same way. Treat this as the 7th game in the playoffs. Let Yao play the entire 1st quarter even with a 20 point lead.

Memphis is a hot team playing like a winner right now. We're definitely gonna get up to play them and we're heating up ourselves. It could go either way, but I'll give it to the Rockets just b/c we're at home and the Grizzlies had to play last night.
    Rockets 101, Grizz 100

It will be important for Ming and Cato to stay out of foul trouble tonight. A good helping defense, and not biting on head-fakes in the paint ought to do the trick.

We'll win tonight because we did not play Grizz well this season and everyone is fired up to tear up Memphis.

I agree, Yao needs to dominate tonight.

But its funny how quickly our perceptions and expectations change. In the middle of the fourth quarter against the Hornets, I found myself agreeing with the TNT announcers that Yao was having a subpar game. And he ended up with 17 points on 7-12 shooting, 9 boards, and 2 blocks. The bar for Yao's crappy games has risen indeed.

the grizzle are tough because they play so many guys and they all play hard. they seem to be able to wear a lot of teams down. our rotation is about 8 guys while they use about 10.

a win tonight would be a big boost.

come on yao... if u cant score over him, retire.

Even if gasol matches yao, i think our PF showd score on Tsakalidis (as gasol playing on yao)

Both teams haven't played each other in a while, and I think that the Rockets have matured more in the past 5 games than most teams do in a whole year. The first game we played this year vs. them was a disaster. They came out strutting a huge defensive effort after all the columnists had deemed the Rockets as the best defensive team in the league. The second game was a nail bitter. We were playing them well up until Posey startted killing us.

As long as Posey doesn't have a monster game, and Yao gets the ball in the post, it should be a fun game.
