His FT form is beautiful, a rainbow shot that could make him a 70-80% FT shooter which is huge. He had some nice minutes again this game. Great to see him be part of this.
I think he turned everything around when he found his niche. I love it when a player knows his role. When clint and the prig master general meet up in the pnr it brings tears to my eyes. Prigs with his amazing passing and client's crazy athleticism make a thing of beauty. Clint will play a bigger role this next series.
He's the future of our team. I've said this to my co-workers, but I really believe he's going to be be the next Hakeem. He's developing quickly against top tier competition, he seems to have the right mentality and right now it doesn't seem that he has the built in pitfalls that other Centers have. Time will tell, but I'm going to be keeping a very close eye on this guy for years to come.
My goodness do some of you get carried away. Hakeem, really? We should all have to learn French if he turns out to be a poor man's Ibaka.
What's not to like? The things he does naturally well (set picks, finish at the rim, and block shots) all translate well into the NBA. You can't teach his freakish length. He has soft hands and great footwork (played soccer) for someone so raw. I'd love to see him as a Rocket for a long time. He's only 20 and will continue to fill out as he gains experience backing up Howard. When Howard's days are done, he will be ready.
To quote Reggie Miller, "Oh ho ho. Oh ho ho ho ho!" I'm loving watching this kid's development. He's made so much progress this season in very limited playing time. He went from not being able to buy a basket to becoming an excellent finisher around the rim. He went from not being able to make a free throw to save his life(0-15 to start the season) to hitting around 50%. He went from a beanpole who looked like he didn't belong in the NBA to a guy who's blocking shots, grabbing offensive boards, and getting some decent assists by kicking out to open shooters(something even Dwight still struggles with). And best of all, he's doing most of this in the postseason where the pressure of the big games seems to have no effect on him whatsoever. What's truly scary is that he just turned 21 today. Imagine how good he'll be in a couple more seasons with some additional experience and muscle on that skinny frame of his.
I am pretty glad he forced Moreys hand and made him bring him over this year. I thought with all his posturing and not wanting to play another year in Europe he would just be a trade filler. This kid is a stud and with him and D-Mo, we have a front court with loads of potential.
This is the kid who, earlier in the season, intelligent analysts were saying was 3 years away from being 3 years away. Its pretty amazing how rapidly this kid has progressed. Its going to be really exciting to see how much more he grows after a full season under his belt.
I love this guy's mentality! He's a hard worker, and seems focused. Very refreshing to see a young man carry himself so well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1hbutJq4GI He is by nature a solid defender with athleticism! thats why we got him I hope that he will take the next step by gaining some muscle, and improving his shot. I believe in Clint !
Agreed. Capela has swag for days. That flush on Spencer Hawes! UNGH! Oh and btw, that dunk last night, he never planted his heel. He was inbounds. Replay Slo-mo, on slomo, on obnoxiously large TV confirmed it. That was a bad call, and a nice dunk.
No doubt. We need him to start taking minutes from Dwight for longevity purposes. If we can keep Dwight around 30-32 minutes a game that's huge. Given his injuries and game, nobody can really say how much longer Dwight has playing at a high level. Playoff Dwight gives us hope though!
If he can develop a reliable jumpshot, he could play next to Howard for some spot minutes. He's definitely mobile enough to cover most 4's in the league.
Everyone can see the kid's athleticism, but his secret weapon is his poise. He shakes off screw-ups and just plays on coolly, in a way that few guys his age would. You'd expect him to get intimidated or choke, but he doesn't. In the Mavs series, McHale kept putting him in with about 4 to 5 minutes left in the quarter, right in the hack-a sweet spot. At that time, Clint still had the rep for missing all his FTs. But when he took them in the playoffs, you could see he had fixed whatever gave him the early bad stats. I got the distinct feeling McHale was baiting Carlisle to foul him.
He knows his role and sticks to them. On offense, he is always screening the ball-carrier for the pnr or going to the rim for the lobs. On defense, he protects the rim and rebounds. He is not fazed by the big moments, always calm and delivers.
You have been around long enough to remember Akeem back in his first year in the league right? They have similarities that could induce some to make that comparison. Akeem was bean pole skinny, raw on offense, good defender and great at protecting the rim, but made quite a few mistakes as he adjusted to the NBA in his first year. Akeem even had the advantage of not being fresh on these shores while he was doing all that as a rookie. I can't say that Clint will or will not be close to Hakeem eventually, but I can see the similarities that might lead someone to make that comparison. Its not out of left field as much as one might think at first glance.
