The thing about Dallas is that while they were only 2 games from winnng the championship, they were still 2 games away, and that may be the closest they ever get. It's gonna be progressively more difficult for them to return to the finals. They BARELY beat a SA team that in my mind didn't quite have the motitavtion to win and a Phoenix team that was tired and shorthanded. The Rockets should hopefully be in the mix too. While Dallas is the better team right now, Houston will always have a shot with a healthy Yao and TMac; the right additions will push them through; and Mike James could be a key addition.

    Houston:
    • has the potential to be a contender
    • could offer a starting spot allow for him to have an integral role; 3rd scoring option
    • right in his backyard

    Dallas:
    • is a contender
    • could be a key role but has to share minutes with Terry and Harris; would be a 4th or 5th scoring option
    • a short plane trip from his home

Based on everything James has said thus far, it almost comes off Beltranesque if he chose Dallas over Houston, cause Houston is the obvious better fit. The only thing Dallas offers over Houston is the chance to win now, and like I said, that is FAR from guaranteed in a tough western conference where SA will be just as good, Phoenix and Houston will be better and the Clippers right there too.

Yeah It would be alot better for us if he went to Minn but if its a ring he wants then I am thinking Dallas will be his choice even if Houston with him has the same chance if not a better chance than Dallas. Guys just need to stay healthy and Cd needs to add a few guys to the strong base of the Rockets.

MJ already won a ring as a bench player. I would assume he wants to win a ring with more significant role. In this regard, Houston definitely has an advantage over Dallas.

Yeah, the guy could just go ahead and sign as a free agent and Toronto gets nothing. They might as well do nothing and get a free 4.2M trade exception.

Go to the other thread and listen to MJ's interviews this evening. Does NOT sound promising at all.
