But intentional - and funny at that. I enjoyed the comments more after opening this up a little peeved that JVG found a way to take a dump on a great Kill Bill performance.

I wanted him in for Rafer all 4th quarter. Rafer managed to shut me up with the clutch 3.

couldn't agree more. so maybe jvg did wait an extra couple games and practices to give spanoulis a chance to impact a game, alteast v-span is playing. Theres also alot of talk about JVG is forced to play him due to circumstances. I think people forget that JVG knows alot more about the NBA season than most rockets fans. Injuries are going to happen, no question about it, and I am sure JVG knew there would be a time and place to give someone else an oppurtunity to step up. Some fans are asking jvg to have a 11 man rotation, when most coaches have about an 8 man rotation.

He should have been playing all along....that being said.....

    Better late than never !!!!

Too bad it took an injury to a good guy to make it happen.

Chuck has already taken care of the Heat. ;) If they need a 2nd helping, he can put the final dagger in them, next game. ;)

JVG just owned himself, now everyone knows he's a fool for not playing him earlier.

Whatever, admittance is the first step to recovery.

Looks like we have Spanoulis maybe even playing mad D in the closing part of the 4th next time.

You may change your tune come playoff time.

I cant help but feel like he will vastly improve our team once we get there.

Not at the expense of chemistry...Bonzi reeks of a player who thinks he is better than he really is.....that is why other teams have been happy to let him go.

I hope we can trade him...maybe package Juwan and Bonzi for a young player with potential...Darko Milicic?

Notice that the Rockets had to play 11 games in 18 days. There simply wasn't a lot of practice opportunity during the stretch to get the regulars on the same page (TO problems is a symptom of that), let alone work in the new guys.

Anyhow, sometimes it takes injuries for players to have opportunities (see Hayes, Head), and I'm glad this one is working out so far.

But to say Van Gundy has no faith in Spanoulis is ridiculous. He's repeatedly said at the very beginnning that he thought Span would become a good NBA player due to his skills and mental makeup. He also said that Span's good plays were as good as that of anyone on the team.

He had faith in the guy's skills, just needed time to fix the TO problems (and also probably to give the regulars to work with each other).

He's a younger player than V-span. Shouldn't Van Gundy play his younger players first? Novak and Snyder over V-Span and Howard. ;)

Orlando already has a past his prime PF in Battie. They are rebuilding with Howard, Nelson and Darko as their core.

I understand what you are sayin DD. But look at it like this; if he doesnt start to play soon, you wont be able to trade him for chewing gum and a Jeff Bagwell baseball card.

If he doesnt get traded I see nothing wrong with letting him play.

We need a junk yard dog, a Vernon Maxwell head case to bring us through the promised land :D

Come on......JVG was scared that V-Span would make tons of turnovers and hurt the team.....if he really believed that V-Span would have helped him win, he would have put him in the game.

Would it have hurt JVG to give him about 5-10 minutes of run when other players were struggling?

It took an injury for JVG to put our best perimeter defender in the game, and SHOCKER....he stopped both the Knicks and Wizards penetration and helped increase the lead.

JVG just does not trust players that he doesn't know.....and it takes him a lot longer to build up that trust......ala Hayes, V-Span etc.....witness Witherspoon and Brunson as evidence.

JVG trusts knowns more than unknowns.....and that causes him to fail when the knowns aren't working as he has no alternative course of action.

I find it sad that it took an injury to get V-Span in the game......when he brings the 2 things this team needs the most.

    1. Perimeter defense
    2. Energy

JVG is a prepared coach, but not one that thinks well on the fly...IMHO.

How does JVG trust Kirk Snyder? V-span needs to break Snyder's other hand for good measure.

I like V-span, but we also need what Snyder brings to the game.

He doesn't trust Kirk, but he is more of a known commodity than V-Span was.....

Witness the only 9 minutes that Synder played in the Spurs game when the rest of the team was melting down, and Synder's athleticism might have helped....

JVG really needs to loosen up a bit on game days, IMHO.

What happened last time he got loose? Didnt they go see a private viewing of "glory Road"? I think it cost the time like 50,000? :D

Poor JVG, He doesnt stand up for his players and his boss tells him he needs to support his players and the fans get P'oed.

He does stand up for his players and he gets fined like crazy.
