this is looking real good In all seriousness, now that we are at the midpoint of the season, the one stat that stands out to me is FT%. He’s improved from around 80% over the past three years to about 90% this year. That’s a remarkable jump, and it gives me hope that the higher end of his 3PT% isn’t just a fluke but something he can consistently maintain.
It would be awesome because it's really rare for a guard of Green's athleticism to be this good of a shooter.
One thing I’m impressed about is his aggressiveness in driving to the paint. He is driving off the high screen. He also is taking it right to the middle of the paint or into the chests of players as we saw the other night against Memphis. But he’s also more crafty in knifing thru paint traffic and finding little seams and changing directions. Instead of being hesitant or deferring to Sengun or Fred on the high screen or DHO, he is attacking. Finally using his speed and quickness understanding defenders can’t stop him.
players continue to grow and develop and evolve man. Look at Payton Pritchard growing into an elite bench player at 26-27. Rondo and Jason Kidd developed into decent 3 pt shooters late in their careers. Rocket legend Hartenstein grew into a dominant paint defender and long roll scorer at 25-26. And Kobe continued to evolve finding new wrinkles in his game late in his career. Many many more examples.
Does Jalen's shot look smoother this year? The results are great, but I would be curious to hear people's thoughts on how his shot looks as compared to his first two years.
Hes also started keeping his right foot forward when getting set to, what i assume, counter-act how he would let his right elbow get wide and escape his body instead of having it tucked. That right arm has done a much better job, especially recently, at going straight up rather coming in from wide while going up.
I use to talk a lot of **** for Jalen playing like a p***y but we were also doing everything we could to tank Jalen is finally playing with the confidence and attitude of being the best player on a top team and it’s great to see Excited for the Amen / Green backcourt
He’s definitely more aggressive and I think it’s the combination of coaching allowing him to initiate the offense over Fred and how they run their sets. And this has given him the confidence to attack the paint.
Cade finally had one good win over Jalen and he couldn't wait to run to the media and talk about it. These two genuinely don't like each other, didn't know they were pitted against each other in HS. Cade got 2 Silas years to catch up, now it's Jalen's turn to put an end to the debate.
