So apparently you think Scola is a "quality player" and Brook Lopez isn't? That makes no sense whatsoever.

And even when Harris was "clearly not recovered from his injury last year" he was still on the court and people still had to pay attention to him. Which is the whole argument you brought up in the first place.

Lee can also play SF if Battier and C-bud are offline. With a front-court of Yao and Scola, what you need are good shooters at all times (see orlando with DH).

Lee already shot better than Ariza while playing in a crappy team. Even if Ariza's shooting improves with Yao, Lee's would improve even more. Last year's craptacular 0.338 3pt% was already a career high for Ariza, while Lee shot in the 0.40's when he had good shooters around him and dominant post presence. Defense will dropoff but our offense will increase considerably. Lee isn't a slouch defensively as well you know, he's just not as good as Ariza.

LOL at Battier supposedly no longer being an NBA starter at 31, when Derek Fisher just won another championship.

Brook Lopez and Lee were the only players healthy during the Nets' run at history. If he was so good how come his team became so terrible? I've never heard of a dominant post player averaging a ton of points and rebs but his team winning 3 games out of 30. Have you? Scola is someone who's held his own against the best in the league including Pau Gasol and DH. If you can't see the difference in talent between the two I suggest you watch their games again. Brooks is just a normal role player, too slow to bring out against the big boys. Favors is THE bigman on that team.

Although Harris was on the court he can't shoot for crap and was a step slow. Other teams knew that and cheated off of him to double team Lee and their other shooters. Lee is a good scorer but he isn't explosive and talented enough to score on double teams. He needs space to do damage.

48 pages so I'm just tossing a penny into the ocean.... I know nothing about Lee, and I don't agree with other posters that say the Rockets don't treat their players well, but I'm just disappointment that Ariza was wooed so much, then traded after one season.

I would prefer to lose with the guys we committed to.

Grizzlies under Pau were the playoffs consistently. Grizz under Marc won more game in 3 months than the Nets did all season. Grizz had more talent but they also played in the West, which was more brutal because you had more good to great teams.

Were they in the playoffs consistently? I remember their team being highly inconsistent.

    Gasol with Grizzlies
    wins
    2001-02 23
    2002-03 28
2006-07 partial season injured (17 wins 42 losses)
    2007-08 partial season (32 wins 34 losses)

without this deal ariza's salary might have had an affect on how much they could afford to offer brooks and yao next summer, or how much they could afford to pay lowry and scola this summer.

honestly all 4 of those players are more important than ariza. and by the way, lee isnt that much worse. he's younger and $5M cheaper. that makes him the more valuable player IMO.

A good basketball team is like a pizza, and the players are the toppings. In our case, Battier is the cheese. The starters are all quality ingredients: pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms, onions... and then we had Ariza. The f@#king pineapple.

Morey got the fruit off our pizza and brought in an ingredient that hopefully won't work against all the others.

(And please don't try to tell me that Hawaiian pizza is good -- it's terrible and unnatural and everyone except YOU knows it.)
