yes, it would be better...what's missing here is the defensive end, which doesnt show in the stats being compared. Lee is better defensively, and both lee's and bud's defense will imrpove with yao...so we can say bud has an advantage offensively, and lee defensively...so maybe they are equal, but different, however public perception is that Lee should be better, but that's due to his draft position mainly. We're not overrating Lee, but underrating bud. Remember Bud should have been a first round talent, possibly late lottery, let's not get fooled by him dropping.

Doesn't this trade make the Pacers better than the Knicks now? If so, thats a huge plus.

Maybe thats because thats his only year starting for the whole year? His only other year and it happens to be the year he averaged over 33 minutes a game to get his chance as a starter making up the second year making up the actual cast majority of his career in minutes played in only two years of service?

From NO perspective, I can see why, but it's risky, if they lose paul they had a good prospect to replace him in collison, paul, west, and ariza would be a pretty good squad to build around though...this is a really interesting trade to me, because it is so hard to for me to decide if its a big deal or not

Actually....we had 3 sf's that could start for this team. Shane is a starter....Chase has starter potential. There was a log jam at the 3 Spot and Kevin martin needed a backup that can step in if he goes down.

Didn't the Alston - Lowry deal generate the same kind of reaction?

Almost everywhere I've read up on this deal have the Rox making out quite nicely usually right behind Indy who got their cheap and good PG.

Pacers are the biggest winner in this trade, IMO.

Man you acting like ariza was an allstar, the dude was overhyped. We made a trade that didn't make us better or worse, BUT we dumped Ariza's ridiculous contract.

Alston-Lowry trade: absorbing salary to get talent.

Ariza-Lee trade: slashing salary to dump talent.

    opposite trades.

Sure did, and I was part of it. I thought that trade was an indication that the Rockets had given up on the 08-09 season and were starting to rebuild. Turns out Aaron Brooks was a lot better than I thought, and Alston wasn't missed at all.

I ain't gonna get fooled again. Bud is going to get big minutes this year, more than Battier some nights, I expect. We're going to really see what he can do. Glad we won't have to suffer through Jermaine Taylor getting spot starts, too. *shudder*

That ridiculous contract was rewarded by Morey too.

If Ariza's contract is ridiculous, Battier, Lowry, and Miller's contracts are much worse.
