I very much like the idea of getting Iggy for Battier, Jeffries and picks (maybe add Hill) , but the question is why does Philly do that deal?

We all know how valuable these trade exceptions are these days. I think it will be valuable to a team like Philly, Denver, Indiana or even Charlotte come deadline or sooner. I hope this nets us Iggy, Granger, Melo or Wallace.

Forgot they lost the year I was referencing. Point still stands. Ariza winning a ring means nothing when comparing him to another player.

In order to not embarrass myself I will use Ariza himself.

Ariza has proven he can contribute to a championship team, what has Carmelo Anthony done.

That part I agree with. I am not speculating on his future moves anymore though because those big ones he has gone after never really materialized. Until they do this is only potentially better in the long run. Not definitely better though.

Right, so now we move down the list and have the option to draft a starting SF without having to worry about Ariza's contract sitting on the bench.

Without reviewing the salient first 700-odd posts, this is what I see:

1 - Rox receive virtually 100% value for @20% of cost (how does DM the GM do it?*)
2 - This suggests that SB31 will see his Rocket contract thru, and likely return.
3 - This evinces a confidence in C-Bud as a rotation player this season.
4 - This implies that either JT is being committed to as the #3 1 (and 2) or they are conceding defeat of him as a Rocket.

    * Owner Alexander should be sharing the savings w/DM the GM in form of bonus; 2nd bonus when under lux w/roster as good or better than it was prior to rapping Andersen; 3rd bonus written if/as Rox demonstrate legit contender status in Spring.

Now - team needs, NEEDS, a 4/5. Gortat, actually.

I can't say that I'm sorry to see Ariza go. He would flash into bad attitude land sometimes, and I don't like seeing that on my Houston Rockets.

I am just hoping this turns out to be bigger. I am definitely not satisfied with what we have. Overall if we don't do anything else, it was just a trade to shed $$$ and that's it.

I have a few opinions on this.

I think we can all agree this trade was driven because of salary and the log jam we had at SF. Does this trade make us better? We truly won't know until this team gets on the floor with Yao. I like Lee and he is a great back up to K-Mart.

But IMO, Morey must have Iggy or someone else in mind. You don't make this trade or give up Ariza, who could of been a big piece in a trade, without having some type of confidence in acquiring a player like Iggy. I think this does put us out in the Granger running. AB would of been the person used in the Granger trade since Bird wanted a PG. As you saw today PG was on his mind.

As for the Bud comments, he should get more playing time but I'm not sold he'll be our starting 3 in the future. I like Chase and I think he's important to the team but some of you guys are really putting too much stock into him. He'll get better but it's way to early to claim he'll be a defensive minded player. Let's see what he does this year with hopefully a health Yao. I say hopefully because I don't trust that he'll be healthy.

I wanted to also touch bases on something Reek said earlier. Houston does stand a chance of rebuilding. Who knows what's going to happen with Yao. With that said, I do believe Morey has put us in a position to make deals happen if Yao can't come back. Houston will have a lot of expiring contracts come the deadline. Not only that, we have young guys under contract and picks.

In the end... I trust Morey.

Basically we get back 6 million dollars in cash to use in a trade.

Even if Lee does good next year, we will never know if we actually got BETTER since Ariza never played with Yao.

Of course there is a $6 million TE. Not sure why that is just now been "learned".

"I knew it was comming Ariza was the likely choice. DM is a really smart man.... and mark my words this isn't the last move you will see... By freeing the cap money which was a small concern makes room for another move. The trade is not giving up much offense as the article states but the next move will put the final piece in place for the playoffs... don't be surprised if it involves Battier and ????? I 'll just keep you thinking... But it will be a good one.. just watch..."-joe martel
