I was just thinking that, before this move we were lined out to get Landry back and Melo was the next best free agent above him.

you're right, can you imagine battier having to make all the plays for guys like Brooks, martin, yao, and scola? It's going to be a trainwreck watching battier have to create for them, having to dribble and be the first, second, third, and fourth option. Terrible..

Oh wait, HE DOESNT HAVE TO. AT ALL. That's why it works, he'll hardly need the ball in his hands unless it's to pass (which he's actually solid at) or to shoot (which won't be a lot and he's not bad at that either unless he's rushing it). More energy conserved to play D and this means more consistent minutes for Bud as well.

    lol...that made me laugh...

I don't get this trade either? Something else has to be going on behind the scenes...Ariza was crap, so you get rid of the salary, but is Lee a player that fills his void? works well with our current roster?

    Wait so your telling me

    Shane is

    31 years old
Paid 7 million a year ($2 million more than Ariza)
Lacks an offensive game besides his only 3 point corner shot
    Getting Slower
    Plague by injuries
Produce low numbers, but hey he does everything else (no-stat)

Is a better starter than Ariza at SF @ 2 million dollars less this year?

okay i believe you with your link that was talking about Shane when he was in his late 20's....I read the article, I know what Shane brings.

Too bad i rather have a SF who can do what Shane does but actually be an offensive threat and have agility/length/speed.

What do you mean? Battier cant guard them anymore either. If you give Budinger time I am sure he can eventually guard them better than Battier. He needs a chance to start to do it consistantly. He is obdviously a better scorer than Battier and athlete. So??? How is Battier better if he gets torched and he cant score when we could get Budinger to get scorched and at least score?

Shane is also an EXPIRING contract which is very valuable when trying to trade at the deadline.....

See ya later Ariza, you wont be missed. You are athletic, but soft, and cannot create your own shot. I also, cannot stand the tattoo on your neck.

Welcome Courtney Lee, looks like you can contribute at a fraction of the cost.

Somebody please clarify this for me.

I was reading the RealGM forums (lord knows why, probably to get something close to an objective view on the trade) and people are saying there was some off-court issue between Ariza and another Rocket that catalyzed the trade. Anyone know what their talking about? This is certainly the first I've heard of this...

I agree, people are thinking short term in the terms of this deal....this will be parlayed I think into a move where we move Battier/Jeffries/pick(s) for Granger or Iggy....

As much as I hated Ariza's decision making on Offense, I loved his defensive presence. I'm not sold on this move yet. Also...what were the Hornets thinking?

Why all the hate? Lee is a better all-around player than Ariza, and isn't a sullen punk. The team just got better AND saved money.

Except no team wants shane who is taking longer and longer to recover from injuries. DD, we know you can play company man one minute and all, but you know as well as i do that this was salary dump and this team is going nowhere.

Not positive but we should have enough money to a sign a max player and some if we renounce all our contracts next summer.

I didn't realize it was Morey and Adelman who broke Yao's foot.

The trade just is showing there is no hope for next season. Poor Ariza who doesn't get a chance to prove he can play with Yao. That just shows how bad yao's condition.

Nice comparison offensively. But Lee might be a better defender.
