MLE for a guy like trevor is adequate. Not to mention, once they took the load down, he played well. He does bring something no rocket on this team has, making big shots on the biggest stage at the most crucial time of the year. Now you can poo-poo that or you can admit the rockets won't be in a big game on the big stage which is fine by me. I like chase alot and you know this, i haven't seen it and maybe will never see chase on the stage with the chance to make big shots. ome guys can put up numbers thru the flow and when a play needs to be made, they freeze up and bow down. I've seen trevor with crucial steals to win playoff games. I've seen him score 13 points in a quarter in which kobe was't mentally checked in the game to keep the lakers in the game. Just as i watched maxwell take and make shots in crucial times, i've seen trevor do it. Does that mean i wouldn't trade trevor? No, but not for courtney who i like also. It just tells me the rockets are stuck and horse trading. Teams call about trevor as much as they do about any rocket not named brooks. To make it worse, he's going to the hornets with paul. This is really one of the kind of players paul really needed. He will get on trevor and you will see him get easy layups, dunks and such and his fg% will be back at about 45% again.

I love this response. It says everything. Why? Because it makes absolutely no sense in regard to the point I was making. I asked for any sort of evidence that the Rockets are actively shopping Battier. And instead I get this nonsense.
I think this pretty well sums up most of the Battier detractors. They just don't make any damned sense.

And as for you, MightMog, you keep saying 'no-stat guy' over and over and over as if it means something. It's meaningless. Battier contributes much more to a team than shows up in a box score. There is a reason he's a co-captain of the Rockets. I suggest you give this article another read.

Stop it. I dont like any idea with Battier as our starter. Its not convincing me of anything. Its only making me more worried. Battier sucky. Budinger alot of upside perhaps and room to devlop into a good player. Battier is a horrible idea for the team. I wish we could trade him so it takes him away from their ideas to insert him into starting lineup.

Umm...What are you talking about??? JT and Clee are clearly undersized for a SG...Kmart's 6'7" is good height for a SG, but the thing is the he is rail-THIN! Not only that, he will probably only play in 65% of the games next season.

And at SF...Battier fine, ill give you that he is average (barely) height for a SF. But to say that Budinger is avg size is ridiculous...he cant even play good enuf defense to cover the 3's in this league.

Ariza had great wingspan, great hops (not that CLee doesnt). Its going to be missed when we play the giant sized teams in the West...

All I have to say is I knew Les would find a way before the trading deadline to fix the roster so he wouldn't pay the luxury tax if he couldn't trade for a legitimate star. What I am surprised about is Les taking steps toward it before the season even starts.

It's a shame that we're stuck with idiots like Daryl Morey and Rick Adelman deciding what's best for the Rockets when there are geniuses like you out there who could be making those decisions.

There is no side of this where Battier starts again as this being a positive direction. If they think Budinger is moving forward as the starter then it makes sense. I am not on board definately going back to Battier.

so you "emotionally" think the Rockets are contenders?

we weren't contenders before the trade and we aren't after it. Logic.

Unless there is a future move to add significant talent to the team (hopefully on defense and offense) then we are rebuilding. Nothing wrong with that.

    My guess?

    Morey is after Andre Iguodala

DD, we need D and rebounding to win. As a result, you had a 2 minute 4 Qtr need a stop team with Ariza checking the 2 spot and Shane checking the 3 spot. We now cannot get stops against the talented teams with great/very good 2 and 3's. If Shane stops one, are we counting on Martin, Lee, or Bud, please it's a wrap.

That makes sense. I am just unhappy with this move now until that happens or the move he intends to happen after making this move. I just hate watching Battier play lately its like watching paint dry on offense. His defense isnt good anymore.

I don't think he is terrible, just terribly overpaid for what he does in terms of what we gave up and what we are paying him. Ariza is a better player, but thats not the point. So you think ariza came here because of bosh? They didn't improve at all and they helped a division rival get better, but that doesn't matter either. Are the rockets closer to a ring now? No. If you're not getting better, you're getting worse.

Ariza scored 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists against them on the last game of the season. They probably think they're getting a superstar.

If he's willing to take considerably less money and play third string role then I'm all for it.
