I used such big words while in the contest, and I'm done in by the word "quit".

    Ack.

"Fullscreen" can be written like "fullscreen", but as for the contraction in the Conan thread what do the judges think?

I saw your Conan blunder right after you typed it but decided not to bust you on it because I thought it was an "non-bustable" violation. :)

Shouldn't it be a "non-bustable" violation instead of an "non-bustable" violation?

    That's not a spelling error! That's a grammatical error! One that I can't believe I made because it's one of my pet-peeves. :)

see how fadeaway confused everything with his petty rules.

DEANBCURTIS, "fullscreen" is a kill according to our chosen dictionary. Your Conan mistake is a kill for another very simple reason..."thats" is not a word in the dictionary. Worrying about the apostrophe is too complicated. "Thats" is not a word--very simple. Thanks for conceding.

behad, so is Taliban or Taleban the correct spelling? Is it Koran or Quran?

Sounds like more rules to me to say some names have acceptable multiple spellings. Scrabble deals with complicated issues of proper names by calling them outside the boundaries of the game.

I'd say this is Honor System, or outside the boundaries.

    thoughts?

Foreign proper names could cause a lot of problems, but this is a player's name, easily checked. How many times has someone been called out for spelling Griffin with an "e"? I say he dies.

    Another one bites the dust:

You left out the "i", subtomic. Later!

You can't kill sub because he was never in the game to begin with....remember, only senior members can play & he is not one.

Then why does he have 'How's my spelling" in his signature?

    I don't know, Behad.

I guess you'll have to ask him.

    behad,

some proper names are in the dictionary. How do we choose which ones are in the game and not? Do you want to make a rule more complicated than Scrabble??

    fadeaway,

    answer me this...proper names aside...

    Rockets GM
    Rockets lockerroom
    Rockets dancers

How do you apostrophize those? The whole reason I do not think proper names and possessive apostrophes should be in the game is we would be in major controversy over the most used one on the bbs..."Rockets"!

Do you all get it, yet? This is Scrabble rules! Honor System covers everything else.

imo, behad gets no kill for a proper name not in the dictionary. Plus, you get no kill for possessive apostrophe not in the dictionary, unless the accused uses the Honor System.

keep it simple...stay patient. We are after real, major, obvious, no technicality death blows in the spirit of the Spelling Police.

that said, I think DoD should take himself out for "an" when it was his pet peeve....that is the definition of Honor System, imo.
