But I don't see anything referencing Democrats or Obama in the speech, as CNN and Obama seem to imply. That's all I'm saying. Where specifically does he say that? Serious question. I haven't read the whole thing. I can only go by the quotes in the CNN article, and they don't say anything about Democrats or Obama.
fair point, mods can you change this to "some want to appease terrorist" lord knows who he's talking about
This sounds like an expanded version of what Bush said in an interview on the eve of his trip. It was clearly directed at Carter then, and I can imagine that there are other Presidents w/ whom Obama would rather be identified when it comes to foreign policy. [rquoter]Q Now, Mr. President, President Carter recently told Charlie Rose the next President could change America's image in 10 minutes. Here's what he said: "I think the next President could change the image of this country around the world in 10 minutes by making an inaugural speech that would start off and say, 'As long as I'm President we will never torture another prisoner, as long as I'm President we will never attack or invade another country unless our own security is directly threatened.'" THE PRESIDENT: Yes, well, what he ought to be saying is, is that America doesn't torture. If the implication there is that we do now, then he's wrong. And you bet we're going to protect ourselves by the use of military force. What he really is implying is -- or some imply -- you can be popular; if you want to be popular in the Middle East just go blame Israel for every problem. That will make you popular. Or if you want to be popular in Europe, say you're going to join the International Criminal Court. Popularity is fleeting, Michael. Principles are forever.[/rquoter]
It would be foolish to blame all the problems on Israel. It would also be foolish to ignore that Israel is part of the problem. Recently we went a whole year without attacks on Israel, and once again Israel failed to live up to their end of the bargain and ease restrictions and stop settlement expansion. That's horrible incentive to hold off on more attacks.
Axis of Evil= Korea, Syria, Iran Bush negotiated with all three with regards to different issues. He even negotiated with Libya to give up its nuclear ambitions.
Are you freakin' serious? "No correlation", "Share many values with Germany?" First of all, there is a correlation: Terrorists think their ideology/fanatical religion is superior and want to kill all people who don't think like them. Nazis thought they were a superior race and wanted to kill all people (Jews, Poles, etc.) who were not like them. Second, what values did we have with Germany? After the mess they created in WW1, the US relations with Germany were soured. The US and the other victors of WW1 wanted reparations and a destabilization of Germany's army. Germany likewise had to admit its wrongdoings and didn't recover fully until many years after WW2. I don't think most Americans shared the same values of the Holocaust as the Germans did, if that's what you're implying. I agree the War on Terror isn't conventional because the terrorists aren't a specific nation, but allowing the problems to happen is wrong.
WOW, this struck a nerve in a big way. A BIG WAY. I guess the truth hurts. Pelosi, Biden and a whole host of the other pro-terrorist appeasement crowd is jumping, no leaping to their poor victim Obama's defense. Would they be crying this loudly if they weren't concerned about the criticism? Nope
As far as I can recall no one negotiated with hitler to allow him to march into Poland. I believe when he did that, England and France declared war on Germany. Now Czechoslovakia on the other hand... Just goes to show when it comes to any kind of history, shrub is completely clueless.
Please show me where any of the people you mentioned above ever favored appeasing terrorists. You are repeating a false claim.
Nobody is in favor of allowing it to happen. The closest thing we've seen to allowing it to happen was the invasion of Iraq, which opened Iraq up to terrorists who hadn't been there before.
Don't Republicans always say "Politics stops at the water's edge?" And really TJ, if you don't think that was aimed at Obama, you should change your name to Kate. 250 days left.
LOL! Bush keeps shooting the Republican party in the foot LOL! Keep talkin GW! Seems like every time he opens his yap the GOP cringes! LOL!
The entire Lib rapid response team of foreign policy intelligentsia has been mobilized on this project! I'm just curious why ANY Jewish voters would continue to support Obama, given his policy stance on terrorism and his connections to very anti-semitic individuals.
