A damn shame he took Thurgood Marshall's spot on the bench. Can't wait until his sorry ass retires...

Why is it old people just dont want to let go? These justices should be grooming their next replacements.

So you are saying that those crazy ass, gun toting, let’s-hang-mike-pence white nationalists are going to be on their best behavior?

That is a bet I would not take.

That is the new gold standard in the USSC justice nomination process.

Announcing you are going to nominate based on skin color and gender is somewhat dehumanizing. If an excellent genderqueer judge emerges, they should be considered.

from your limited viewpoint, probably similar to the victimization of white viewpoint that is popular with Trump voters

it's inspiring to black women who are long overdue for the position and many people would see it that way

isn't it illegal to discriminate on the basis of race in the hiring of government employees?

Straight white males need not apply...the script has been flipped and I don't necessarily agree with it.

It will be a great opportunity. The president just could have picked the person without announcing a certain race and gender would be a prerequisite.

The Democrats have been trying their hardest to get rid of the filibuster because it doesn't allow the majority to pass legislation. The majority of people in this country are still white and straight. Alienating people based on their gender, race, or sexual preference is illegal for hiring purposes and morally I also disagree with doing so. I believe the best person for the job should be nominated or we may end up with another Kamala Harris...

That being said I hope we do get a well respected qualified black woman or Native American woman (are there any left?) since it is long overdue.

We don’t know… but he was there, without his wife on Valentines Day… as a man that stressed the importance of marriage and family…. You can figure it out. No one is perfect, he wasn’t my favorite judge but he was the most entertaining and brilliant… I really hope it isn’t what it looked like… no autopsy, family was insistent on that.

It’s not hiring. It was done based on sex decades ago.

I don’t give a crap who get nominated as long as it’s a well qualified liberal to not tilt the court even more. These so assumed sensitive white folks aren’t that sensitive and most don’t care. It’s a non issue. When Biden made that statement, not a single eyebrow was lifted. When Ronald Reagan said he will nominate the first women to the court, it was national headline (the good type). Time has changed. This is simply some folks trying to make an issue out of something that no one care about, including the folks trying to make it an issue.

Unless it's the opposite party holding the Senate.
