Sorta curious... in your mind (and using that term and phrase very loosely), what does this cartoon tell you? What is the significance?

Obviously she's not the best we could nominate for the SCOTUS role, but it's basically a lateral move from the retiring Breyer -- who was a lunatic fringe liberal. Most of Ketanji Brown Jackson's views are identical to the policies that have ruined most major urban centers in America. Rewarding this flawed thinking with a SCOTUS role is not very smart. But the American liberal wraps he/her/ze-self in the politics of racial identities... and is incapable of discussing the topic without resorting to the basest level of emotionalism.

The GOP drew up a strawman to attack and it's no surprise that their obedient audience swallow it whole, then profoundly showcase their team sport spirit.

The truth is she is one of the most qualified ever.

Statement of Hon. Ann Claire Williams (Ret.) Regarding the Nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court (americanbar.org)

Across every aspect of her professional career, from over 250 judges, attorneys, and academics of all political persuasions, we heard the same words used to describe Judge Jackson: “brilliant,” “thoughtful,” “thorough,” “beyond reproach,” “fair,” “respectful,” and “eminently qualified.” Our extensive review leads us to conclude that Judge Jackson meets the highest standards of integrity, professional competence, and judicial temperament. It is the unanimous opinion of the Standing Committee that Judge Jackson is “Well Qualified” to serve as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.

A reminder again that Lindsey Graham voted to confirm KBJ June 2021.

A reminder that since McConnel destroyed the 'advise and consent' norm, it's an open political yes/no going forward.

It has been an open political yes/no since at least the 80s. Bork had all the necessary qualifications to be a Supreme Court Justice, but he was rejected for political reasons. Arguably, the refusal to confirm John Rutledge in 1795 was a naked political rejection.

Hmm... the republicans must have looked hard to find a stern looking picture so fox news viewers could leverage the angry black woman argument...

How deeply concerned is she? ;)

That said I was expecting that Brown might get some Republican votes. I think there are Republicans that want to be part of history as voting for the first black woman on the court and overall I don't think her nomination was controversial. The circus in the Judiciary committee was always going to happen as that is more the norm for high profile hearings these days and even Republican members acknowledged that much of it was just for playing for cable news and twitter.

She'd be more qualified if she had attended keggers and sexually assaulted someone.

    More supportive after the hearings.

Two-thirds of Americans say they'd vote to confirm Ketanji Brown Jackson (yahoo.com)

Two-thirds of Americans say that if they were senators, they would vote to confirm Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson, according to a Marquette University Law School poll published Wednesday.

A combined 88 percent of respondents described Jackson as either "very qualified" or "somewhat qualified" to serve on the Supreme Court. Only 12 percent said she is "unqualified."

Jackson's net favorability rating stands at +26 percent, higher than any sitting justice.

New Marquette Law School Poll national survey finds two-thirds of public support confirming Ketanji Brown Jackson as a Supreme Court justice | Marquette Law School Poll

Those interviewed after the Senate confirmations hearings began were somewhat more likely to say they supported her confirmation: Jackson was supported by 64% of those interviewed before the hearings and by 72% after hearings had begun. Prior to the hearings, 44% said Jackson was very qualified, while after hearings began 52% said she was very qualified.

Based on republican reaction to Judge Jackson... I am hoping Biden goes further left for his second USSC nominee should another seat open up...
