I would rep you if I could but alas,

"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Mr. Brightside again." :(

Grizzly Bear, though seriously instead of Bark Psychosis - one of the greatest bands to have 2 albums or less, right up there with The Stone Roses and My Bloody Valentine.

Oh and I love the RHCP, I don't have the first 2 albums but I have everything else. About the only album of theirs I don't listen to much is "One Hot Minute". I think that Flea and Frusciante are one of the best bass/guitar tandems out there - they have an amazing chemistry together.

I was a huge RHCP fan through Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic. Then Dave Navarro and the abortion known as One Hot Minute happened. I lost my love for their music after that. I still listen to the early stuff, but just knowing that they are capable of such s*** really turned me off. I never bought another album. I'm sure Californication and whatever came after that isn't bad. I'll just never know.

in concur - mothers milk is my favorite though - i first heard of them through that album (1989?) so it will forever remind me of my skateboarding days. i liked blood sugar sex magic at the time, but it didnt hold up well for me (i call this the beastie boys effect). as far as what they are doing now, its just so far removed from what i originally liked about them that its hard to consider them the rhcp still - its a different band.

Q: what do you get when you cross an octopus with the rhcp?
A: a junkie w/ 8 arms to shoot up into.

Q: what did the record executives have to say about the new rhcp tracks?
A: they told them to cover them up w/ long sleeve shirts.

i read about half that book while stuck in the train station in amsterdam - very entertaining read - anthony could give keith richards a run for his money in terms of drug-addled rock n' roll debauchery.

he is playing in thom yorkes band along w/ nigel godrich and the beck/rem drummer - you can find a bunch of clips on youtube from a show they did in l.a. earlier in the month. they basically played the eraser straight through.

flea w/ radiohead guy is one of those wtf! combos, but they have a really good chemistry onstage. hopefully this is not a one-off thing.

10 years ago I would have disagreed. However today I would have to agree. RHCP's songs are predictable and boringly lame these days.

Are you counting "True Men Don't" in the first two? I'm guessing no... Most newbies think of "Freakey Styley" and "Uplift Mofo" as the first two, but they are incorrect. Rookie mistake.

(Sorry, I like being a "music snob" to Manny...)

I'd say the same for Foo. For every great song they put out there are ten extremely mediocre ones and maybe two good ones.

I understand the love for BSSM, but I think Californication is my favorite album. From top to bottom that thing is awesome! The songs are very well put together and I think John's return to the band put them at the peak of their game.

I still like their newest stuff, but Stadium Arcadium probably would've been a lot better as a single album. Wet Sand is one of my favorite tracks and definitely worth checking out.

The only good Foo Fighters album was their first one, which was pretty much the last great grunge album. It's ridiculous how underrated it is. It was raw and spontaneous. I wonder if current/younger Foo Fighters fans even like it considering how different it sounds than anything they've done since.

One Hot Minute is a great album. Just because they change style doesn't mean it's an abortion. How can people say anything by the Peppers is ****? Every album is pure gold IMO.

I don't see anything in that link saying the album was originally titled anything other than The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Anyway, I love those demos on the remastered version of this album. They should've just left those songs as is. Especially Out In LA.

I like them, am a fan, have seen them in concert which is great, and don't mind some of the lineup changes, but I do think that they've watered down to more of a formula the past couple of albums.

I liked quite a bit of One Hot Minute.

In the end though, while I think they've been original at times, and I like their sound, I don't consider them one of the greatest of all time. Maybe just missed the cut, or maybe they're just missing that something that makes a band part of that, but I just wouldn't quite put them in that class.

It wasn't a terrible song (not one of my favorites) and they've created good music since then, but 'Under the bridge' was the beginning of the end, if you ask me.

One Hot Minute is ok, but I would say it is definitely their worst from Blood Sugar Sex Magik till today. Like I said earlier, I don't like their stuff before BSSM.

A lot of you guys are saying that they are too mainstream now. I would agree that they are more mainstream, but I still like their stuff. The Jupiter disc in Stadium Arcadium is somewhat mainstream, but I think the mars disc is more like some of their old stuff. There are a ton of songs on that albumn, some of you should give the while thing a shot.

Chad Smith has also formed a new band named Chicken Foot with Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, and Joe Satriani. By friend wen to their concert a few weeks ago and said they were great.

i love janes addiction and navarros playing so i was pumped when he joined rhcp - navarros stamp is all over that record and it is probably the one that is least like there others - there are some cool songs on it, but its basically the ones that sound like janes - but there is alot of garbage on there - that freaking 'aeroplane' song...what the hell was that? i think that is the album where they truly lost their way. even when frusciante came back, they still didnt recapture what they had had on mothers milk and bssm.

and nobody is ever going to confuse anthony w/ dylan, but the lyrics on that one are just god-awful pathetic.

and i dont know how anyone can say the foo fighters are better than nirvana - im not telling anyone which band is their personal favorite, but in the grand scheme of things nirvana will be remembered as FAR, FAR more important. i wasnt a huge nirvana fan (or moreso than anyone else at the time), but i did see them live once and i was blown away - they were a surprisingly good live band. granted, having dave grohl as your drummer will always help.

and here is another video of flea w/ thom yorke - he has a cool little bass solo at the 3:45 mark - i really hope these guys work on some original music together. its radiohead w/ a grove.
