It has been longer since the Cubs won a WS game than it has for the Astros. Also, you never have answered by request for a tip jar bet. If the Cubs get to the WS, I will contribute $25 to the tip jar. If they don't, you contribute $25 to the tip jar.

Why are you in such a hurry to play us? The Astros have a winning record against the Cubs this season and the Cubs are 3-7 in their last 10 games. Are you ready to have us knock 2 or 3 games off your lead?

But we still have one thing going for us that you don't. We're not the Cubs.

    Long live Bartman!!!

What's the point of coming into this site if you're going to "represent" other Cubs fans and make a silly comment like this. You're wasting your own time writing messages here if they're irrelevant, especially to the topic at hand (there's a ****ing strong hurricane about to hit town and baseball is important??)

    You're delusional.

False. Houston fans would never resort to that kind of classlessness. Everyone here has been through enough of these to understand the circumstances, and show a slight bit of concern. Not one of those players even expressed the slightest bit. Pricks.

How is this any different from a Cubs game getting postponed at Wrigley because of rain? They don't move to a neutral site during inclement weather, they play the game at a later date.

And this situation is much more than just inclement weather....the players should be allowed to focus on their families right now.

Plus, I don't think it's fair for the Astros to give up a couple of home games while they are in a fight for a playoff spot. No reason at all the games can't be played at a later date.

Every team has its share of classless fans. Some more than others.

I assume you're referring to A.J. and not me. All I did was point out the possible benefits of the games being reschedule for the end of the season.

exactly! you'd think they'd be thrilled not to have to face the buzzsaw that the astros have been lately.

really? 14 out of 15? you really want to face that now?

Cool, I wasn't completely sure but that was my guess.

Anyhow, A.J. was the first thing that came to mind after reading the OP. I would have added him as another reason to hate the Cubs if you hadn't already indirectly taken care of it. What pisses me off most about that guy though isn't actually the annoying pro-Cubs crap he spews out but rather the fact that he claims to also be an Astros fan. I am also an Indians but would never go around bragging about them when they are having a good season, especially in an Astros forum, just like I wouldn't go around bragging about the Astros when they're doing well. I fear seeing an Astros-Indians WS one day. It would be a bittersweet result no matter how it played out.

really? I am an Indians fan also. My peeps live around Cleveland.

I'm Astros first though. I love the Indians, but if they are playing the Stros, I want Houston to win. I always want Houston to win.

    ever been to the Jake?

    Castor27,

Would it be OK to create a thread dedicated to the WC chase where we could discuss other games, e.g., Mil vs Phi and Stl vs Pit tonight? I assume the answer is no.

I wouldn't see why not....those games are directly related to the Astros.

then again, I'm not a mod.

Unfortunately, it's now Progressive Field. I wish it was still Jacobs Field.

My father's side of the family is from the Cleveland area and they are all diehard Indians/Browns fans. I actually lived in Bowling Green for a couple of years when I was a kid. I never went to a game at the Jake but have been to a few Indians games in other cities. The first MLB game I ever went to was in 1986 at Fenway when the Red Sox played the Indians. We stopped in Boston on our way to Maine. It was actually the game where Clemens clinched his first 20-win season:

    http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BOS/BOS198608300.shtml

I've been a Clemens fan ever since that day. There is no good reason for that other than I was kid and I saw him pitch. I was never, and never will be, a Red Sox fan. I was pretty excited though when Clemens became an Astro.

I don't know who I'd root for the next time the Indians play the Astros. I've been an Indians fan for over 20 years and an Astros fan for a little over 5 (started following them after moving to Houston in 2002). Over the past several years, I've gotten more and more into the Astros and follow them much more than the Indians at this point. I still get Extra Innings though solely to watch the Tribe.

I will always remember the awesome run the Indians had in the 90s and the disappointment of coming so close twice. There was a constant influx of talent on those teams for several years, especially offensively. Hitters like Belle, the Alomars, Manny, Lofton, Thome, Baerga, Gonzalez, Murray, Williams and pitchers like Nagy, Colon in his prime, Mesa, Hershiser, Martinez, etc...

It's awesome to see what Cliff Lee is doing this year. He wasn't even supposed to be their third best pitcher coming into the season. Sabathia, Carmona and Westbrook were all ahead of him in the rotation. If he doesn't win the AL Cy Young this season, I will lose all faith in humanity. As good as Halladay has been, Lee has clearly been better in my mind. K-Rod shouldn't get it over him, either, even if he gets 60+ saves.

I lived in Fremont for a few years, about 15-20 miles from Bowling Green, I'm sure you have heard of Sandusky.....(Cedar Point, Tommy Boy) thats where my roots lie.

I haven't been keeping up with the Indians for a few years, after I moved back to Texas in '03, I just kinda quit watching them. I took my daughter to the Jake once when we lived up there, spectacular field. we also went to the old tigers stadium......complete sh!thole.

So AJ when you say that the Astros fans suck, were you referring to yourself too?

This one right here is a gem where you say you are kidding about being a Cubs fan.

I guess you are one of those rare fans that jump off the bandwagon when "your" team starts winning. That would actually explain why you would be a "Cubs fan" because they have sucked for so long.
