I've seen people with low post counts, claim to know a source, no link and post, how come I don't see it locked?
Just trying to let you know, it wasn't necessary to take a shot at me(bashing intended or not, was it necessary? I do not think so, keep your place, I may have a low post count, but that doesn't prove anything). I am not trying to gain respect for me, but for the average rookies. That whole link or thread you sent me, remember that one, yeah it's like the bashing of rookies. And I did indeed post it in the GARM thread as well, because some fans probably think we have a chance for him. If I'm looking for some attention, I assume you are looking for some rookie bashing. I'm not here to troll, to bash, to harass or to instigate, but if you want to take shots at me, don't expect me to cuddle up and accept it. I'm not going to sit here and rant about it anymore, it's done.
Then why are you speaking like a mod? Knowing for sure that'll it be locked? If you ain't one, then don't speak for one.
only in your imagination. i was only letting you know what happens here, since you were complaining about not being able to start a thread.
Are we talking about the same Al harrington here ? The Al Harrington I know averaged nearly 20 pts last season and is a hell of alot better than JHo...
The same one that refuses to rebound or play defense, instead he resorts to fouls. And the same Harrington that had his stats look better, well, because he was on the Atlanta "freaking" Hawks.
Damn it man, nobody cares if you had this Al Harrington info six hours before the next guy. You're right, just because you're a rookie doesn't make longer-term members better than you. But on the flip side, just because you saw and reposted this info first doesn't make you better than anyone else either. So don't make it seem like some grand accomplishment that somehow validates your value to the board. I mean this Harrington news wasn't exactly something we were all on pins and needles to find out about. So nobody is going to thank you for "breaking it", especially when you do it in a thread that's totally different from your subject. That's annoying. Not so much your post your post alone, but the general phenomenon. I can't think of a more annoying practice than to constantly see posts that have nothing to do with the thread, asking for people to start a thread for them. The best way to build credibility on the board (any board) is to make good posts. And to continue making good posts. Eventually people will notice that and remember the name. Building up a defensive "rookies get no respect" tone doesn't help anything. And being the first one to post news that isn't a major rocket scoops doesn't garner much respect either. You've got to understand, we've probably had more than a hundred new posters (maybe much more) come through in the past couple of weeks. Some have been good, and some have not. In fact some have been downright terrible, with immature, childish complaining, and completely vapid posts with no substance whatsoever. Rookies aren't the only ones doing it, but a huge chunk is coming from new members. So it's not that easy to give new guys the benefit of the doubt, when a bunch of them haven't said anything worth reading whatsoever. My advice to you is to just move on. Don't make offtopic posts asking for people to make a thread for you, unless it's a major Rocket transaction. Something like a big trade or major signing. And even then you'll be surprised how quickly news gets reposted on here, if it's a Rocket roster move. You'll frequently find more than one thread on the same thing, seconds after it hits the radio or internet. So maybe avoid it altogether. As for when you'll be allowed to start your own posts, Clutch is the guy who is checking new members and "promoting" them if he feels that they've been useful additions that make good posts. He's already upped a bunch of guys to "member" status which you can see in this thread: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=112720 So just keep at it, keep posting, and don't do anything stupid or annoying.
Taanks for your concern, but my problem is there is no need for him to link me to a thread full of useless crap ,like that guy did, to try to diminish me. I could give a rats ass if I said it or Billy Bob Joe said it , fact of the matter is, there's no reason to send that link to me. It's instintigating a fight. I thought it was unneccssary, again, and I said I am going to move on. Like I said before, I have no intentions to start fights, etc. I just don't think its appropriate to view someone unless he's proven to be bad or good, like consecutive stupid posts or claims, or just plain immaturity. It's like me posting a thread in which someone disagrees on his opinion, whenever he posts. What's the need? What's your incentive on doing it. Anyways, Al's heading back to Indiana, I wonder if they are putting JO at the 5. I'd be surprised if they are not.
Erm are you referring to the link to the thread about "Rookies making posts on a totally different subject than the thread", because last I checked you were a "Rookie making a post on a totally different subject than the thread". As for why I bothered to reply. You seem like a decent enough poster so far. But I don't like the practice of posting off-topic news in other threads, and I'm not fond of the "rookies don't get no respect" attitude that's popped up here and there recently. So I decided to address both of those topics. If you would have taken something from the posting, then I would have been content and moved along with my busybody ways.
Well I had no right to post, so therefore I was left with no choice. It's like the poor kid being in the small beaten up house and the rich kid picking fun of him. I wanted to inform you guys, so I did, somehow.
I think ATL only gets IND's first round pick and a 7.5 mil TE. Also heard that Harringotn is signed to 6 years at 57.5 mil. A lot of money for a guy who hasn't done much to warrant it.
The figures look right, starts at 7.6 with 10% raises. He did produce 18 & 7 the last two years--not shabby at all, but I can't say I am big fan of his game or think he will do anything close to that back at Indy. Atl gets a pick for their trouble on a guy they were going to lose for nada.
Keep making useless posts whining about some perceived slight, that the overwhelming majority of us don't give a flip about, and the mods are apt to make you a rookie for the next 6 months. It's happened before. You say you aren't trying to draw attention to yourself, yet you make half a dozen posts drawing attention to yourself. Someone respected like m_cable tries to give you some good advice, and you keep cranking out the BS. We ain't interested, and it has nothing to do with your member status. You want to get noticed? Follow m_cable's advice. I'll give you an example. Van Gundier popped up here, out of nowhere, and started making quality posts. A bunch of quality posts. When I see his moniker in a thread, I go to it just to see what he has to say, and he hasn't been here long. Get a grip, and smell the coffee. No thanks required.
Uh, what are you talking about? It's people like you that keep on bringing these stuff back to life. I put it past me. On top of that, I did thank m_cable, when did I crank out the BS? Is BS ..asking and stating why I can't post a new topic. If so, that' BS, then. Attention craving? Oh ok, since I try to inform you guys, we got Al Harrington, I'm now an attention craving w****? I think you are misunderstood, I simply was blunt to make it known I said it first, to prove to that guy who posted that rookie bashing thread. No one cares about status? Did you check that thread? It was full of that. Plus, I see some of the better respected people here. I know for a fact, the average person doesn't respect arrogance or cockiness, so nonsense lines such as your last line prove no worthy. Why post it? Do you just want me to argue with you? On top of that, I have been posting regularly putting my opinions in some instances, and I have gotten quality feedback, so trying to explain how to be worthy or not, will not draw any interest from me, especially if you come in and approach me the way you did, just that alone draws an annoying, cocky person. I already listened to m_cable, have moved on. I don't need you to come in here and try to set me straight, I'm fine the way it is. I'm happy and posting regularly. Anyways, if every new guy peeps in and puts thier 2 cents this never will die. So, let's put it to a rest.
Still, I don't like the deal..to put up 18 points on 16 shots a game is not very efficient. 7 rebounds in around 37-38 minutes a game he played, much of it as PF, is also not very impressive. He also doesn't really seem to make the team any better. Look at the numbers Juwan Howard put up in Denver and Orlando.. almost the same as Harringtons, and we are b****ing about the MLE contract he signs... I don't see how Harrington is a much better player than Juwan Howard a few years ago. Hell, when Yao was injured, Juwan can still get you 17-18 ppg and 7 rebounds a game if you feed him enough and leave him on the court long enough.
