Steals is one of the most overrated defensive stats. Just because a player gambles in passing lanes that does not make him a good defender.

Allen Iverson wouldn't be much different than having Aaron Brooks out there, bigger players would just post him up and push him around. He was one of the main reasons why Denver was so horrible on the defensive side of the court.

Add Quinton Ross. Our defense won't be as good as without Battier, but Ross,McGrady and AI will be adequate on the defensive end.

Well I hope someone checks the IP address cause one of us is in Houston, and one of us is in the Army in Georgia. Lets hope your sources are better than your skills at Clue.

    He's my cousin, FYI.

Ross is big, and quick enough to handle big guards and forwards.

Uh . . . the Lakers got Shaq as a free agent and went on to win three straight championships. I'd say that's a pretty good example.

How much better a defender is Skip over AI?

    THAT much better?

Because offensively, we do KNOW that AI is in fact, THAT much better then Skip offensively.

no, we are not the same person nor do we have the same opinion regarding this trade.

We both think it is b.s and you have no credentials from inside the org. What are your 2 sources then?

Again, AI is known for his defense, T-Mac has shown he can play defense, and a healthy Yao to roam the paint, the Rockets won't be that bad defensively, minus Shane.

The trade just isn't A.I. for skip....if it was I wouldn't have a problem with the trade.

The trade is for our best defensive player and at a position we are already thin at and possibly our only experienced backup PG.

I agree that steals don't tell the whole story defensively, and I also agree with you that Battier is a much better defender than Iverson. Quite frankly, Battier is a top 5 defender in the league so he's much better than most everybody defensively.

but ... Iverson is solid on defense and has always been. Defense has never been a knock against him. He will get bullied because of his size, but he is not a liability defensively by any means. Considering that Tmac and Barry aren't truely fast enough to keep up with ultra-quick 2s, he'd provide a lot of flexibility that way. Barry and T-Mac can bridge the height gap when matchups are a problem at the 2

Plus ... I truely believe that he'd be okay handling the point for stretches in Adleman's system (avg. 7 assists a game last year ... is that an overrated stat?) ;)

I have looked on 3 other Rockets message boards, and 3 Denver Nuggets message boards and have found nothing at all even mentioning this deal.

Iverson on the Rockets would be fun for NBA 2k8 and NBA live but other than that...I just dont know. I guess I'm biased b/c I have never really been a big fan of his.

It's amusing the people saying this is "definitely" BS. They don't even have a supposed source saying it is. Just like to be heard. Annoying.

At least offer analysis... as if lopsided or even not so lopsided trades never happen in the NBA. This one is actually pretty practical.

You've already said you don't think it'll happen... great! Based on nothing. Move to another thread. Get over it. I'm having fun with this plausible and entertaining rumor. Thanks for posting it.

They were the Lakers. To me, there are only three teams in the league that could pull this kind of thing off, Lakers, Knicks, and Celtics. The first two are the biggest most glamorous markets. The third has a rich tradition that every player wants to be a part of. Houston ain't one of those teams.
