I have heard this rumor from two different people and I think there is some smoke to this fire. A guy called in to Charlie Palillo's show on 790 last Friday and said that his friend works in the Rockets ticket office and was told to not go anywhere over the weekend because a big trade is supposed to go down and they needed everyone to man the phones. Additionally, I have heard elsewhere that this trade supposedly was supposed to go down over the weekend but has been held up unexpectedly. Anyone else hear enything.

Do we even have enough fillers to match AI's contract without trading t-mac?? As for the rumor this is the first I'm hearing of it.

Crazy, if this goes down I'd be very happy. But I'm not going to put all my hopes on this rumor.

I wonder what our line up would look like then? I don't know if you guys realize this but we aren't exactly deep at the 3. You have Tmac (who I would rather play 2), Novak, I suppose Barry although it wouldn't be too smart to play him a lot of minutes.

i assume that the rumored trade is what you mentioned in the thread title.

i wouldnt do it it leaves an even bigger gaping PG spot on the team, forces tmac to guard the other teams opposing wing (best wing) each night. iverson is a volume shooter and while still an offensive force i dont see him being able to mesh within adeleman's system. i actually see this trade hurting the rockets more than helping them.

i would rather not have a "big trade" anymore if a deal comes along that is too good to refuse then do it but i think this team needs more tweaking than another huge overhaul.

Interesting trade, but not a huge Iverson fan. Cant see him as a 3rd scorer especially because he needs the ball to be effective. Id pass...

    And practice...
    You talkin bout practice...

    No thanks

if this is such a big trade why isn't it being mentioned anywhere else in the world besides here? you need to check your sources cause so far this off season nobody has been right!!!

We were in the top 5 defensively, not even in the top 10 offensively last year (and I'm going by points per 100 possessions btw). AI to Denver ****ed that team up because they were already an elite offensive team, we're not. It would be nice to have another guy that can go to the basket. We would suffer on defense, but our offense would pick up.

Yes. I actually proposed this trade a month ago here. Shane, Jackson and Alston for AI works.

    Don't like it.

Adelman offense = playground ball if AI comes aboard.

maybe i am mistaken but didnt the best defensive team win the title this past season, the season before that another top 3 defensive team? I dont like any trade that would hurt our team defense significantly (like this one would by giving up our best man defender and team defender)

i think we have enough offense just needs to add a player or to help (like they did with barry) but not at the cost of our top tier defense, giving up battier and rafer (who imo isnt a bad defender of course not amazing either) and adding iverson who gambles and plays passing lanes very well but not much else is going to hurt the team defense greatly.

I like this trade a lot..

Yes he is slightly a ball hog but..

    1. He can get to the FT line.
    2. He is durable (Hardly any injuries in his career)
    3. He is a legit scorer.
    4. He is the type of attack the basket type of person were looking for.

I told you guys already that the sales group was not instructed to be on alert this weekend for the possibility of having to come in.

We might see something, we might not, but chances are slim a big deal like that takes place.

We would lose an exterior defender and our best point guard last year. Bobby Jackson gave us a boost off the bench. There would have to be some contigency plans in place that would set off after this.

AI would give us a jump shooting threat and someone not afraid to take it to the hole. He is AI so he would get more calls than say Rafer.

We know Morey is saving for 2010. Would it be worth going an offseason ahead of time? I don't think so...

As much as I agree with your first statement...the practice thing is kind of stupid now. You might be using sarcasm but to all the other posters that want to use that line to hurt AI. AI said that when he was young and up and coming. Now he is a veteran that wants to win championships and hasn't been in trouble with his coach, his teammates, or the law in a long time.

He has grown up. From a basketball standpoint on if he can be productive...maybe maybe not...but your getting a professional in return

I'm not sure how he fits into the offense though.. he loves having the ball, and RA is more about cuts and open looks.. not really Iverson's strengths..
