 If Tmac or Yao go down Houston is doomed with or without A.I., I mean he did such a great job of leading his team last season in the playoffs...

Hey I got a crazy idea. Why don't we all just chill about how good or bad this trade is until it happens??

    :p

Cap space is overrated. When was the last time a team with big cap space signed a top player and won a championship?

I think a lot of people are under estimating Battier's value. He is a high end role player with a decent contract. That kind of players are in high demand. A team that needs a defensive stopper (who can hit a high percentage of long ball to boot) to get them over the top would be willing to part with some promising young players for him.

Who care if AI is a future Hall of Famer? The fact is, he can't shoot from outside in a half-court set and mostly scores off one-on-one isolation plays. On a team that has Yao and Tmac, this isn't the style we want to play. Lets remember the last all-star big man AI was paired with...Chris Webber, an Adelman-built player. Those two with the Sixers had terrible chemistry. Also remember perhaps the top two complaints of Rocket fans in recent years: we have had too many undersized players; and old, washed-up players. AI is prob two years away from being considered washed-up.

I want to have a third scorer on this team as much as the next person, but chemistry has to be considered... Now, if we bring AI here to be a third scorer off the bench, that might work out. But as a starting point guard, he cannot set up the offense as effective as Rafer does for Tmac and Yao. As a starting shooting guard, he will struggle to defend bigger guards, and it might force Tmac and his back take on more defensive responsibility. Both Rafer and Battier work very well into what the Rockets want to accomplish: setting up an organized offense, playing defense, and being shooting threats from outside. Iverson cannot replace what Rafer and Shane bring. But if AI can be brought here without losing Rafer or Battier, and IF Iverson will accept a role off the bench (highly unlikely), then he will be a valuable offensive spark off the bench. But as for now, a definite pass on this AI trade.

This Trade is not going to happen so just kill it already.

Why would we want this trade any ways? We get a 33 year old shooting guard and we lose a Defensive stopper who If I remember correctly has hit big shots for us. Battier is very important to this team.Plus my girl friend has a crush on him and if he was to leave she'd spend less time watching the games and more time bothering me. ;)

We heard and read the same rumors as you, Mr. Breaking News. I posted on this 24 hours before you did.

Why do you say he's disappeared? He's shown up and produced offensively both postseasons we have had him here. He shot 48% from 3 pt land, and got his 10ppg. Shoot, he had 22 points in the first game of the playoffs this season.

Defensively, who exactly on the Jazz do you want him to focus on. The don't have a true wing man for him to guard like say a Kobe, Ginobili, Melo, Peja, or Ray Allen/Paul Pierce. Utah has Kirelinko and filler in the 2-3 spot and they aren't a real threat.

And for those upset with the thread. Get over it. It's speculation and the offseason is so boring. Just relax. If it comes true you can come back and see what you missed. ;)

Personally I would miss Rafer and Shane, but I like the thought of testing AI out with Yao and Tmac. It does sound quite far fetched, the trade will probably be a little one with Novak. But it's good to imagine a big one!

I respect your opinion,I just don't feel that we are good enough with a healthy 111 along with our role players to get to the top, that's why I'm willing to take a risk for an aging star who still has quite a lot to offer for a year or two. I would rather add a younger role player to Battier like Brandon Roy instead of AI.

The Nuggets screwed up by making AI the main scoring option, as opposed to Melo, like how it was before AI got there.

Melo should be the main block on that team.

With the Rockets, Yao is. T-Mac is'nt the T-Mac of old, and he's more of a facilitator, which is why T-mac and AI should be able to coexist better, as opppsed to Melo and AI, where you have two dominant scorers.

I like Battier too, but do you understand that Iverson has always been considered a good defender?

fyi: he averaged 2 steals a game last year.

Why? What the hell is the point in having a MB if you can't even debate trades?

Also, I have a sneaking suspicion that XBLRocketman111 and Red Rowdy111 are the same person.

    Like the Ron Artest rumors:

If you can get one All-Star/HOF type talent for two non-All-Star/Hof'ers, you make the deal...

There would be a line from TC all the way down to 59 of men wanting to kiss DM on the mouth if he pulled this deal off.
