Landry really didn't get rolling until the 2nd half of the season his rookie year. A roster move NEEDS to be made so we can bring PatPat back up. Considering he will groomed to be Scola's backup, one or a few things can happen: 1. Jeffries is traded. Morey is looking to capitalize on the expiring contract. 2. Hill is traded. Hill's natural position is PF... the same as PatPat. Considering that Scola is going to be here for 4 more years at least (barring trade), I believe that PatPat is Morey's favorite to be the backup. 3. Serious Injuries. They happen to us. 4. Adelman wants to give PatPat a shot at playing small forward. Unlikely, but it's not out of the question.
They probably figure this is the fastest way to develop a player. A short stint in the d-league before you bring him up to transition him to the NBA. Patterson should look pretty good by the time he gets some playing time with the Rockets.
Why aren't you in chat?? It's Nancy Lieberman... it was hilarious in the pregame talk she's talking "love" and Finch (RGV coach) talking taking the first punch
he should definately play over lee. his one game against the thunder was betetr than what courtney lee has done all season so far. lol
For all those complaining about how a lottery pick like Patrick Patterson (#14) was being sent down to the D-League, please note that both Ed Davis (#13) and Cole Aldrich (#11) were also recently sent down. While the Thunder are certainly playing much better than the Rockets this season, they do not even have the quantity of frontcourt depth at the PF and C positions that Houston has. And if you think Sam Presti is a stupid GM, you have a lot to learn about the NBA. The Thunder is one of the most well-run organizations in the league.
He broke one cardinal rule of drafting in the NBA: Never ever draft a white guy in the lottery. Ever. It almost never works out. So he can't be that smart.
Hey, now! There have been several white (non-Euro) players drafted in the lottery who deserved to be lottery picks (although not necessarily at the spot at which they were actually selected): Chris Mullin (1985) Rex Chapman (1988) Christian Laettner (1992) Tom Gugliotta (1992) Shawn Bradley (1993) Keith Van Horn (1997) Raef LaFrentz (1998) Jason Williams (1998) Wally Szczerbiak (1999) Mike Miller (2000) Mike Dunleavy, Jr. (2002) Chris Kaman (2003) Kirk Hinrich (2003) Kevin Love (2008) Brook Lopez (2008) - he's mostly white
Shawn Bradley Christian Laettner Had no business being drafted in the lottery. Both should have been late 1st round picks at best.
False. Shawn Bradley averaged a solid 12 ppg, 8 rpg and 3.5 bpg for his first 5-6 years. That is worthy of a lottery pick. Christian Laettner averaged close to 18 ppg and 7.5 rpg for the first 5-6 seasons of his career and made an All-Star Team with the Atlanta Hawks. Any player who can do that is clearly worthy of a lottery pick. Don't get caught up in the fact that they were both top-3 picks. If GMs could do those drafts over again, those guys would still go somewhere in the lottery.
Ed Davis was only sent down because he was coming back for an injury and needed to get back in shape. Patterson was sent down because he couldn't beat out Jordan Hill or Jared Jeffries. Presti is overrated, much like Morey has been. Durant fell into his lap -- you don't get credit there. Westbrook was a great pick, Green a not-so-great pick. Harden has been a bust for them. Aldrich doesn't look like anything special so far (as you noted, he's D-League'in it up.) The one thing he did that I think should set the standard is that he built through the draft. A lot of people think trading for an overpaid star will help this team -- it won't. We need to blow it up and pray to get lucky with the next Durant like Presti did.
