If a manager wins a championship, but gives it right back, is he still ring-less? Thank you, Dusty!! -Rangers fans .
I'm just glad its over, lets get into the offseason so the real teams can compete again next year and not the lucky once in a lifetime moment teams go head to head in the world series of mid...
No one cares, next year the story is how The Astros made it to the ALCS again for the 8th straight year and another world series in sight while the lucky ones probably don't even make the postseason....
Rangers deserve to be World Series champions. After game 5 of the ALCS they were “dead”. They could have easily folded after that but they decided to play their best baseball of the year. They were resilient and they were hungry. How can you hate on them like that? Tip your hat to them and come back next year. Rangers and Astros are now a true rival and that has to be something to get excited about.
MLB doesn't know how to market more than 3-4 stars at a time. They spent all their national ammo marketing guys like Judge, Trout, Ohtani, Tatis who all didn't make the playoffs or are injury prone. Even guys that baseball people know well like Betts, Acuna, Yordan, etc. are just poorly marketed to the general sports fan as opposed to comparable All-Pro level stars in the NBA or NFL. Even Harper is poorly marketed in my opinion to the general sports fan. This is even worse for the young crop of pitchers outside of Ohtani. It's crazy how those types of players could easily walk around the country and no one would ever notice them. That just isn't as true of the best/biggest top 5-8 stars in the NFL/NBA. D-Backs have Carroll who played super well all playoffs, but the MLB did NOTHING to make him a national name all season or even in the playoffs which gettin him on shows, interviews and commercials to make him known. He was highly regarded well before he got the MLB too, so it is not like they couldn't expect it. Same with like every player on the Rangers. They have guys like Seager, MS, Eovaldi who while not mega stars, still have some cache that could have been better marketed once the Rangers got off to such a good start pre-All Star break. Or even throughout the playoffs when they got rolling. I mean great baseball plays are the perfect from a timing wise and emotion wise to work on most social media, but the MLB doesn't do a good enough job to market that and get those out everywhere on top of saturating interviews, talk shows, and all. A lot of this is because the MLB doesn't control "national" marketing and image making like NBA and NFL does. They let each team do their own things almost completely, and that just doesn't work to expand the reach of players and making stars national names quickly or well enough to grow an audience. Unless the MLB fixes this, they will continue their current pecking order as roughly 3rd best of US leagues. Another thing that could help is figuring out a better way to do betting/fantasy angle for the playoffs. It is way too hard for average sports fans to do it during regular season, but playoffs would be do able. I know they do a bracket thing that all sports does, but it doesn't have the "must watchable ability" that March Madness does. If they could figure something like that for the playoffs, It could make the first few weekends must watch events. I also think in general, they season just goes too long now as well. Late October/Early Nov is just too busy for most people with life stuff, pre holiday stuff, NFL, and starting up NHL/NBA. Shortening spring training and starting the season early would help a lot, especially since they will never shorten the actual season like they should.
Martin Maldonado not fighting back against Adolis Garcia was the weak point in Game 5. Team Won that Game but Lost the Series because of this Loser Martin. Martin Maldonado looking down submitting to Adolis was in a a way admitting I am Weak, Im a Loser. Dana Brown said Yainer Diaz is now the Starting catcher Full Time and looking for a Backup along with new Pitchers. Astros need 2 Starting Pitchers instead of Bullpen. Neris, Maton, Stanek are gone.
MLB has dug their own grave by shoving the Yankees, Red Sox, and dodgers, dicks down americas throats the past 30 years.
They should shorten the season and just have a two month playoff with everybody eligible and all 7 game series. Round 1 - 16 matchups Round 2 - 8 matchups Round 3 - 4 matchups Round 4 - 2 matchups Round 5 - WS 4 x 31 Regular season or 124 game season with 2H and 2A with every other team and a maximum of 35 playoff games or 159 total. Division and League Play become irrelevant as they are already becoming. Baseball Begins AFTER April 1 and ENDS before Halloween.
Agree on the resilience from them but I'd much rather this be a Warriors Rockets type "rivalry" where like the Warriors the Astros wouldn't really see the Rangers as one because they never could knock them out of the playoffs/prevent them from a championship
Parade of sadness Doesn't even hold a candle to Championship Parades in Downtown Houston. Arlington is pitiful
