2023 World Series: D-Backs v D-Bags

The funny thing is I loathed the 2001 Diamondbacks. Mostly due to them winning a World Series after only 4 years and having several former Astros on that team who we foolishly either traded away or didn't resign.

This team is a lot easier to root for though. Or at the very least not hate on.

 

I remember that team. That was tough to see Luis Gonzalez in a Diamondbacks uniform winning it all.

 

But they took down the Yankees Death Star.

 

True. In retrospect, I do appreciate them preventing the 4-peat. But I really hated seeing Gonzo, Finley, and the Big Unit all celebrating a World Series.

Even worse was that was the season the Astros won 93 games, would've had home field the entire way, and laid down and quit in the postseason against the Braves. Maybe the most disgusted I've ever been with an Astros team.

 

D-Backs have already beat 3 teams that were better than the Rangers when the playoffs started. Both teams could be thinking this is their easiest matchup so far in the postseason.

I hope D-Backs can small-ball the Rangers to death and Strommy can work his magic on the mound.

 

Won't be watching it. I hope Arizona wins just for the fans who placed bets for future odds on their team. They had the highest payout of +12,000 back in March.

I saw some Finley jerseys in the crowd during Game 5 the other night. Still breaks my heart.

 

The Dbags are hot. They swept the two best AL teams and last year's WS chanps, albeit in 7 games. This season, the DBags alternated between hot and cold, so there is hope a cold streak is due.

 

Was cheering for them vs the Yankees, and I'm cheering for them now.

 

MLB, networks and advertisers can’t be happy with this matchup. Dream scenario for ratings would have been Astros vs Braves or Phillies. Everyone loves to hate the Stros and tunes in to see if we’ll lose.

I am pulling for the Rangers. My best friend is a fan, a win would keep the trophy in TX and anyone I’ve ever met from AZ is sort of an *******. It also helps build the rivalry.

I get it, Dallas does suck, but they’re our assholes to beat on.

 

Texas winning the WS would be the worst case scenario. Gotta have the d-backs (team of destiny) win at all costs.

I thought that was only when the Astros were in the World Series.

 

How about some respect for being honest when I knew I was going to get blowback? From an overall sports standpoint, Dallas is lower on my list of rivals. Maybe that will change for baseball in the next few years. Right now, there's not much of a rivalry. I don't really hate the Mavs either. /shrug.

Dallas overall sucks balls, though.
