got the nexus 4 yesterday...still waiting on the sim from t-mobile. but been playing with nexus 4 on wifi. thing is real nice. granted i'm coming from an iphone 4...so i'm a few phone generations behind. they weren't lying that you're tied into google pretty hardcore, tons of google apps came stock on phone (gmail, G+, currents, drive, etc.) not that i'm complaining. thing is buttery smooth, whether you're switching between screens, opening apps or browser. screen looks real nice. thing is so light, my iphone 4 feels like a brick compared to it. guess i'll search for that android apps thread from awhile ago.
anyone with a nexus 4 that can explain to me why i cant see google calendar events i've added in the notification tray? i know the iphone adds the events to their notification tray when added to its calendar. i know nexus 4 does somehow...i've seen images...for some reason not working for me
Are your notification events set to remind? If they're not, they don't just show up in the notification bar. You can also add the calendar widget to your lockscreen or a home screen if that makes things easier for you
don't wait for the sim, go into a corporate t-mobile store and get one. It's usually the same price as the starter kit online.
Oh and since this thread is about 2012 cell phones. If you like HTC phones, I recommend the HTC ONE X+. I'm loving mine so far
Pre-paid starter kit is free online at t-mobile right now and comes with 3.14 cents towards your account.
they are set to remind...i've tried numerous settings, 1 week, 24 hrs, 8 hrs. i did notice that once i set the reminder exit out of the calendar then go back in the reminder isnt set anymore. not sure why thats happening. i will add that i used a website to setup the tv show and used a iCal link in the google calendar website to set it up. this way the shows were added to my google calendar automatically. not sure if that matters though. i tried creating my own event by actually typing everything in myself and it still wouldnt show in my notifications
I totally hate this. I don't give a **** about G+ or google current, and I sure as hell dont want it on my phone. It's almost as annoying as that damn newsstand on the iPhone that you cant get rid of.
wow i have absolutely no idea wtf is going on with this calendar stuff. this could be a deal breaker for me. might return the N4. unreal. i have no idea how i can get the events in my calendar to show in the notifications tray.
go into the phone settings, go to accounts , click on your gmail address, and make sure you have a checkbox next to sync calendar. also make sure you didn't turn off sync
did this...it was synced...i even clicked it off then turned it back on to have it re-sync....still not showing anything
I'm doing same phone same plan as you flyer. I'm assuming there is a way you can automatically pay every month hopefully. Anyone have a go to site to buy cases for phones??
yeah...when you sign up online..towards the end it asks you if you want to turn on auto pay. just check that, and you should be good
went into the calendar even turned off the calendar i had setup to sync. manually entered the event myself. turned on a reminder for 24 hrs hit done, backed out and still not showing up in the notifications. the show is set for tonight. what could i possibly be doing wrong? this is infuriating
The new Nexus 4 - frustrates you from trying to input a calendar reminder so much that it makes sure that you'll NEVER forget that one event thats coming up on your calendar!
Autopay is probably better for convenience, but for a discount on your monthly plan, you might want to check out CallingMart http://www.callingmart.com/default.aspx Pretty decent discounts on plans, especially if you use the monthly promo codes they give out every month. Can also have something setup there to either autobuy or autoremind you to pay for the next month (would still need to redeem the credit, but that takes less than minute). Not sure why the calendar stuff isn't working. IIRC, the notification only shows up once the "reminder time" has been met (e.g., if I set a 30 minute reminder for a 4:00 event, it will only pop-up at 3:30...and it wouldn't pop-up if I set it up after 3:30...I think). Since you tried various reminder settings and have probably played with it a lot, I'm guessing you already tried this though (plus not sure why the reminder details were wiped after you went back to the event).
