It looks like the unlocked one and the TMobile one (which requires a 2 year contract) MAY be different.

Absolutely. I rarely, if ever, talk on the phone anymore. And if I end up doing so, I can always just use my data connection to power the calls (Google Voice). Minutes are a dying part of cell phone plans.

If the data connection with T-Mobile is good enough to support consistent basic web browsing around most of Houston on a laptop, I am going to be in heaven.

A few websites have reported that the Play Store specs are incorrect and the unlocked version will in fact support HSPA+42

my dad just got one last week and i've been playing with it this weekend.

the s-pen is still mostly a gimmick. cant see one of us using it much in our daily phone usage.
the finishing of the phone is nice. better than s3.

    touchwiz is still cartoony.

Thats what I was wondering, if you would use a phablet as a daily driver. I read that the battery can last for 2 days and it comes with an extra battery.

I picked one up on Friday and I'm very happy with it so far. It's by far the best Android phone I've tested so far (G1, HTC EVO 4G, Droid 2, Samsung Galaxy II, Samsung Galaxy Note). I spent a lot of time with the International Note 2, and the upcoming multitasking update looks fantastic. The pen can be very handy for precise selection in some apps, note taking, and custom gestures you can make to do various things. Battery life is great so far, and the fact the battery is removable is a big plus if the battery life ever starts to go south.

Almost forgot the best thing about it, the screen is amazing, way better than the Galaxy S III.

ended up pre-ordering a red one of the htc 8x from vzw. the blue was just way too purple for me (saw it in an at&t store). very, very nice looking in person and that "better than retina" display is sharp. lumia looked nice also, just a tad bit chunky for my tastes and prefer vzw's lte coverage.

lg nexus 4 lack of lte was a deal breaker.

T-Mobile users, how is the HSPA+ service? What types of speeds do you get around Houston, and how good is their coverage these days?

I'm strongly considering canceling my Sprint contract and switching to T-Mobile. Main reason being I want a GSM phone and T-Mo's new unlimited data options are very attractive.

Simple math for me: no micro SD + no removable battery = won't buy.

In December, Apple will begin “trial” production of their seventh-generation iPhone. The so-called “iPhone 5S,” begins production with an initial run of 50,000 to 100,000 units, according to DigiTimes.

According to the report, Apple has “accelerated” the certification process for parts and materials in the new handset. Because of this, full production is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

If this is true, Apple may be signaling that the iPhone 5S will debut in June, which would be a return to normal of sorts for the company. Prior to 2011, Apple released iPhones in June or July. However, beginning with the iPhone 4S, Cupertino’s release schedule switched to fall.

This possible switch arrives as Apple shifts iPad releases to later in the year. The fourth-generation iPad and iPad mini debuted last month. Prior to this, iPads launched in March or April each year.

We have yet to hear what new features could be arriving on the iPhone 5S. However, the handset is expected to only be a modest update from the iPhone 5. Apple’s sixth-generation handset arrived in stores in September.
