Obama did as well as a democrat can do, I don't think we'll ever see anyone do what reagan did in 88 again. just still too divided
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/results/individual/#mapPTX LOL. Margin of victory in Maverick County: Obama: 8,554 78% McCain: 2,316 21%
My county voted 55% for Obama in IN. Of course we are a college town with 40k students, but it was nice seeing so many kids vote. They had to extend the voting time about half an hour to make sure all students standing in line can finish voting. Looks like IN will go blue for the first time in 44 years and join Virginia as the new frontier states.
1936: 523 - 8 1984: 525 - 13 1984 had more EV's going to the winner but 1936 had a larger percent of the electorate going to the winner and a larger margin of victory. Depends on how you look at it.
actually.........no. By whom? you? you missed the whole point Blacks already vote in droves for Democrats so the biggest difference was that everyone else came out to vote for a man that they believed could be a great president. People saw past his color to vote for who they wanted to. Yes, the color of his skin makes this moment historic but only because people ignored it when they casted their ballots.
If things hold, it will be: Obama 368 EVs McCain 178 EVs Obama turns Ohio, Florida, Virginia, Iowa, North Carolina, Indiana, New Mexico, Colorado, and Nevada. That's a national win folks.

Mine as well, so you aren't alone. I thought the popular vote would be close (in the 3% range), but that the electoral college victory would be big (+300). My last prediction on the electoral vote was deliberately low, because I was trying not to jinx it. I said we'd take all the Kerry states, plus Virginia, Colorado, and Nevada. Well, we sure took those three states, but blew through that number on the way to an electoral landslide. Needless to say, I'm delighted I was wrong!
mark, good on you for volunteering for the campaign. I just donated money this cycle. Should have done more.
Well, i can't believe it took me this long...
